Patent number: 10865333Abstract: An adhesive composition is made from a first part containing an isocyanate group-containing prepolymer that is a reaction product of a first isocyanate and at least one polyol; and a second isocyanate that is essentially unreacted with the first isocyanate, the at least one polyol, and the isocyanate group containing prepolymer; and a second part containing at least two polyols; wherein the adhesive composition is essentially free of diluent oils and solvents. A polyurethane adhesive is made by mixing the first part and the second part in a 1:1 to 1.2:1 weight ratio of the first part to the second part to form a mixture, and curing the mixture. The polyurethane adhesive can be used in articles, including semipermeable membranes and reverse osmosis modules. When a solvent is filtered through the semipermeable membranes by reverse osmosis, the polyurethane adhesive prevents or reduces osmotic blistering.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2016Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: ELANTAS PDG, INC.Inventors: Tanmoy Dey, Richard D. Patent number: 9832902Abstract: Electrical circuit assemblies flood coated with polymeric flood coat compositions as described or exemplified herein are provided. The flood coat composition is characterized as having a sufficient gel time and thixotropic index as to substantially cover or encapsulate the electrical circuit assembly as a fixed mass upon cure such that the thickness of the polymeric coating on surfaces horizontal to the assembly is from 20 mils to 75 mils, and the thickness on surfaces vertical to the assembly is from 4 mils to 20 mils. Such flood coated assemblies and devices containing same are advantageous over conventional potting materials or conformal coatings because they require less material thereby reducing weight and cost, and they are able to withstand extreme environmental stresses such as from temperature and/or vibrations.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2014Date of Patent: November 28, 2017Assignee: ELANTAS PDG, INC.Inventors: Richard David Jordan, Jr., Thomas C. Patent number: 7964236Abstract: Use of the barrier property effect of nanomaterials to improve the electrical insulation resistance, corrosion protection and bond strength properties of electromagnetic devices. The beneficial effects are realized with nanomaterial loadings of 1-20%, and preferably between 1-5%, parts by weight of coating resins. Nanomaterials include, but are not limited to, silica, alumina, zirconia, and antimony pentoxide, which are dispersed either directly into a coating, or pre-dispersed in a carrier appropriate to the solvent of the resin system. Resulting formulations benefit from the fact anti-settling agents need not be incorporated into the resin to keep the inorganic material suspended. Also, the rheology of the resin system is not significantly altered which would otherwise affect processing of the resins for their intended applications.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2005Date of Patent: June 21, 2011Assignee: Elantas PDG, Inc.Inventors: Ronald W. Patent number: 7763312Abstract: Dispersion of sol-derived nano-alumina in an organic solvent mixture containing a 1,2-diol with simple agitation. A thixotropic solution is obtained at 20% alumina in ethylene glycol, while a low viscosity (<100 cps) solution is possible for a 20% alumina in (1:1, N-methylpyrrolidone-ethylene glycol) solution. Alumina particles are de-agglomerated with minimal agitation. The resulting solution or resin solution is stable to settling and re-agglomeration. The nano-alumina dispersion solution can then be mixed with an imide coating to provide for a wire coating to give the wire improved abrasion, COF, and corona resistance.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2006Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Elantas PDG, Inc.Inventors: Thomas J.
