Abstract: Methods are disclosed for distributing digitized electronic representations of representative responses to non-objective assessment tasks and established scores for the responses to readers in order to train the readers to determine scores for responses in accordance with a scoring criteria, to qualify the readers to determine scores for responses in accordance with the scoring criteria, and to monitor how well a reader is determining scores for such responses in accordance with the scoring criteria. In disclosed embodiments, the methods provide such distribution for multiple scorers on a network located at a single site, for multiple scorers on a network remote from a central site; and scoring by individual scorers remote from the central site. Distribution may be accomplished by transferring data from electronic files using diverse techniques such as magnetic storage discs, CD-ROM, cable or high-speed public communications network, in accordance with the needs of the particular job and setting.

Abstract: An archery bow for propelling an arrow at a velocity depending on the draw strength of the bow. The bow includes a handle section having first and second ends; an elongated first limb having a proximal end attached relative to the first end of the handle section, and having a distal end; an elongated second limb having a proximal end attached relative to the second end of the handle section, and having a distal end; a bowstring extending between the distal ends of the first and second limbs; and assist structure for reducing the amount of force required to draw the bowstring to a full draw while maintaining the arrow velocity produced when the bowstring is released.
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for retaining removable side panels on the opposite sides of a livestock squeeze chute. The sides of the squeeze chute have front and back pairs of bracket plates for receiving the front and back edges of the side panels. As the panels are dropped into place, a cam located between the back pair of bracket plates shifts the panels forwardly to position their forward edges between the front pair of bracket plates.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a novel fiberglass pole construction and the method for forming such. The pole is of composite construction and includes inner, outer and intermediate layers resin bonded together into an integral hollow elongated tapered form exhibiting lightweight and high strength characteristics. The intermediate layer includes individual sublayers in turn formed from a plurality of strips of non-woven, unidirectional glass fiber fabric. The strips of each sublayer are circumferentially staggered about the periphery of the pole and are disposed lengthwise therealong so that the orientation of the glass fibers forming such strips is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pole. Several such sublayers are built up until the necessary strength characteristics have been imparted to the pole. An outer layer of generally spirally wrapped ribbon essentially completes the structure.

Abstract: A livestock squeeze chute includes upright sides mounted on the frame by parallelogram supports that permit movement of the sides toward and away from one another while always maintaining the sides parallel. The sides are coupled together for opposite equidistant movement by arms that extend from the respective sides and connect to a common shaft at the forward end of the chute. A hand lever is provided to rotate the shaft and effect movement of the sides toward and away from one another. A ratchet lock mechanism acts automatically to retain the sides against outward movement. A release is selectively operable to release the ratchet lock mechanism. The sides include panels and bar sections which are removable to provide access to the entire body of an animal in the chute.
