Abstract: A wooden door for hinged mounting in a frame wherein the door opening is defined by jambs equipped with magnetic weather stripping is characterized by clip-like trim strips of magnetic material enclosing the corner of the lock side edge and the top edge of the door. These trim strips have the multiple functions of providing a magnetic interconnection between magnetic weather stripping and the otherwise wood door, protecting the corners of the door against damage by contact with foreign objects extending into the door opening, and providing a decorative appearance.
Abstract: A deadbolt lockset having a linkage between the bolt and the bolt housing. The attachment point between the bolt and the first link can be selected from among several attachment points, and the connection between the bolt housing and a second link can be selected from among several locations to give a selected backset and a selected throw. A particular feature is the capability to provide a substantially longer throw than with conventional deadbolt assemblies.

Abstract: A wooden door for hinged mounting in a frame wherein the door opening is defined by jambs equipped with magnetic weather stripping is characterized by clip-like trim strips of resilient magnetic metal extending in enclosing relation with the corner of each side and the top of the door which enter the frame. These trim strips have the multiple functions of providing a magnetic interconnection between magnetic weather stripping and the otherwise wood door, protecting the corners of the door against damage by contact with foreign objects extending into the door opening, and providing a decorative appearance.
Abstract: The fire resistance of a metal skin covered door wherein the stile on the lock side projects between the skins for on site trimming purposes is more than doubled by directly connecting one leaf of each hinge to one of the skins and by directly connecting the skins to each other with a metal strap positioned on the top of the door close to the lock side edge thereof.
Abstract: A wooden door for installation as the entry door of a new or remodeled residence is completely factory prefinished by fabricating all wooden parts to accurate dimensions and staining all these parts, including cut-outs in the door blank for a lock assembly and other hardware, before assembly. After preliminary staining and assembly, all final finishing operations are performed on the door, and it is packaged in a protective package, along with its hardware, and shipped as a separate item to the resident site. The frame in which the prefinished door is to be mounted in the completed residence is also factory assembled, a temporary door of expendable quality is installed therein, and the frame and temporary door are shipped to the site independently of the final door for installation as soon as the residence has been completed to the point where installation of the door frame is in order.

Abstract: A prefabricated door assembly for insertion in a door opening in a wall of predetermined thickness comprises side and head jambs of a width less than the wall thickness, and the frame is completed by extender casings each comprising a molding which is butt jointed to the outer surface of an extender piece that has its opposite edge butt jointed to its complementary jamb to complete a frame assembly of the proper width to fit the door opening with the molding pieces overlying the junction between the extender pieces and the wall. These features provide significant savings in the cost of materials and also in the space required for shipping the prefabricated base frame assemblies prior to addition of the extender casings thereto.
Abstract: A double door installation includes an astragal which is removably mounted in the head jamb and sill portions of the door frame independently of the doors, but the combination includes a locking mechanism in one door which incorporates a bolt arranged to project through the astragal into the other door to effect firm locking of both doors to each other and to the astragal.
