Abstract: Monitoring the physiological state of an equine by measuring data with which a user can make educated decisions for the well-being of his equine. The physiological monitoring system may consist of wearable sensor units that are removably attached to the equine and a display hub unit which collects data and displays the results to the user. The wearable sensor unit measures data from the equine and sends that data to the display hub unit. The display hub unit then uses that data to evaluate the physiological status of the equine. The evaluation can be based on ambient temperature, heart rate, accelerometer, and skin temperature data. These data may be manipulated by different methods in order to determine a physiological state. These methods include comparisons between bilaterally symmetric measurements, comparisons to a threshold value, changes with respect to time, and comparisons to a baseline state.
