  • Patent number: 5954006
Abstract: The apparatus of the invention is applied to a case of folding, for example, the sleeve cloth of short-sleeved T-shirt in half while conveying. A holding device grips the leading end of the cloth conveyed on a conveying surface of narrow conveyor belts, lifts the gripped leading end of the cloth from the conveying surface, and holds it above the conveying surface temporarily. A cloth stopping device stops conveying of the front side portion of the conveyed cloth on the conveying surface at a position of an upstream side in the conveying direction from the holding device. When cloths are put on the conveying surface by overlaying mutually in part, a space is formed between the preceding cloth and succeeding cloth by the cloth stopping device, so that the leading end of the cloth is gripped and lifted by the holding device.

  • Patent number: 5884573
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for sewing a thread chain into a seam by an overlock sewing machine, particularly an apparatus for providing a specified length of thread chain remaining in a side of the sewing machine. A cutting device cuts a thread chain formed consecutively with a trailing end of a workpiece at the first operation. In a working face in the vicinity of the cutting device in a fabric feeding side, an air suction nozzle is provided for drawing a separated thread chain remaining in a side of the sewing machine after the first operation of the cutting device. An air injection pipe is provided in a position opposite to an internal bore of a tongue. The air injection pipe blows air toward the internal bore so that the separated thread chain is moved into the internal bore.

  • Patent number: 5845759
Abstract: The cloth piece transfer apparatus with side inverter of the invention is applied to the case of continuous feed of cut cloth pieces into a sewing machine or the like. Pickup 14 pinches holds and lifts the rear portion of the cloth piece N in the process of transfer of the cloth pieces N supplied and supported in horizontal position in uneven sides on a transfer device 4. A rodless cylinder 7 moves the pickup 14 in the transfer direction at a speed faster than the transfer speed of the transfer device 4. The cloth piece N moved by this rodless cylinder 7 is brought into contact with an inverting member 18 disposed beneath the middle position of the moving route of the pickup 14, and the sides of the cloth piece N are inverted. The inverted cloth piece N is dropped and supported on the transfer device 4. It enhances the transfer efficiency and is enable to transfer by inverting the sides without disturbing the interval of the cloth pieces supplied continuously.

  • Patent number: 5829375
Abstract: The cloth end position control apparatus for a sewing machine of the present invention functions to control the end portion of the cloth to a specified sewing position. A cloth end control roller corrects the position deviation of the cloth by rotating in a direction orthogonal to the cloth feed direction depending on the detection by a cloth end detector for detecting the end portion of the cloth C. A pressing member guides the end portion of the cloth C by gripping the cloth C against the cloth end control roller. The cloth roller is rotatable about a shaft disposed at the cloth feed-in side to the roller and in a horizontal direction orthogonal to the cloth feed direction, and is elastically thrust in a direction reverse to the cloth feed direction through a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 5816175
Abstract: A thread control apparatus for a double chain stitch sewing machine of the present invention is applied to the case of sewing a cloth with a double chain stitch sewing machine having multiple needles, and forming a thread chain consecutively to the sewing end of the cloth. Two thread tensioning devices change over and apply mutually different thread tensions to needle threads and to a looper thread passed through a plurality of needles and a looper, respectively, when sewing the cloth and when forming a thread chain. An other looper thread tensioning device disposed in a thread route between a looper thread take-up device and the looper. The other looper thread tensioning device limits the draw-out amount of thread by pinching the looper thread from the looper thread take-up device to the looper side only when forming a thread chain, and therefore a tight thread chain may be securely formed when forming a thread chain.

  • Patent number: 5778812
Abstract: A sewing apparatus of circular rib of the invention is applied to the case of sewing a circular rib in a tape form to the end portion of a tubular cloth such as the waist portion of briefs. A first cloth end controlling device corrects the position by gripping the end portion of a tubular cloth C between a control roller 23 and a roller holder 25 so as to support an circular rib R and tubular cloth C separately at right and left side, in a front roller 1, out of plural rollers 1, 2, 3 disposed in front and rear of the needle drop point 5 of a sewing machine. A second cloth end controlling device corrects the position by gripping the end portion of the tubular cloth C between the control roller 22 and roller holder 24, so that the end portion may overlap with the circular rib R. Moreover, near the second cloth end controlling device, a rib detaching guide 4 supports only the circular rib R, and moves away to a waiting position along with approach of the sewing start portion.

  • Patent number: 5769018
Abstract: In a looper thread control device for a double chainstitch sewing machine, the sewing needles are lowered securely into a thread triangle, even under the conditions of low thread tension and high speed operation, and with an elastic looper thread, without rib formation or skipped stitches in the fabric. A looper thread support member 1 moves up and down in cooperation with sewing needles NL, NR near the left end of the looper L. The looper thread support member 1 enters into the triangle prior to the descent of the sewing needles, and seizes the looper thread LT. The looper thread support member 1 holds the looper thread until the eyelet LE on the looper moves to the right side of the looper thread support member 1, thereby pulling out the looper thread LT from the thread source, and then releases the looper thread.

  • Patent number: 5398627
Abstract: A sewing machine possessing multiple needles and a single looper for forming a double chain stitch without an upper covering thread capable of drawing out a thread chain reliably and smoothly. By using an auxiliary blade disposed parallel to a looper, the thread chain consecutive to the looper is supported, thereby preventing the thread chain from being pushed down beneath a throat plate by descending needles. On the throat plate, a stitch formation tongue composed of a movable slender plate is provided, and this tongue is withdrawn when making the thread chain. The sewing machine is provided with tension regulators for sewing and for forming a thread chain respectively. In the tension regulators for forming the thread chain, the tension of the right needle thread is set lower than the tension of the looper thread. By use of a rear feed dog, the thread chain is drawn out through a guide groove at the left rear end of a needle hole toward the middle of the rear feed dog.
