Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for triggering a gasbag which is arranged below the surface of a dashboard or a paneling of a vehicle. Gasbags of this type are generally referred to as airbags and are filled with a propellant. When the airbag is triggered, the pressure of the puffing-out sack actuates a flap 8 which is provided at its outer end with a connecting element 13. The connecting element can be designed as a slack tension cable, stiff lever or as a strap. When the airbag is actuated, the flap 8 is rotated about its hinge point and pulled rearward (i.e. away from the person to be protected) by the connecting element. This releases an opening in the vehicle interior paneling for the passage of the airbag. The arrangement of the airbag and of the flap require minimal depth dimensions for the airbag construction in the dashboard and therefore permits greater freedom in the configuration of the dashboard and therefore leads to greater space within the vehicle.

Abstract: The invention concerns a component (1) for motor vehicles, in particular, instrument panel, lateral covering or side member covering, comprising an airbag cover (2) arranged in the region of the filler channel (3) and having a weaker resistance zone opening when the airbag is inflated. The covering zone located on either side of the weaker resistance zone can move freely, from an extracted airbag, along a clearance path while remaining linked to the component 91), after the airbag has been inflated, in specific manner. The airbag cover (20) is an elastic material. The weakened resistance zone extends over the opposite delimitations (4, 5) of the filler channel 93), so as to ensure the extension and inflation of the airbag. Said device eliminates possible damage to the inflated airbag and injury risks incurred by passengers as result the burst parts projected coming from said cover.

Abstract: A method is disclosed wherein weakened zones are provided in plastic trim parts in the from of cuts produced by means of an ultra sound cutting method, and wherein the cuts can be made suitably narrow and extending through the thickness of a multilayered plastic trim part in a manner that the cuts are without jagged edges and remain invisible on the visible side even when the cut extends though a decorative layer of the multilayered plastic part even after long term storage under heat.

Abstract: In a bumper and/or a bumper protective strip which are arranged tightly together in a finished position, holding apparatus are provided, with which the bumper protective strip is detachably fastenable to provide a spacing from the bumper with respect to the finished spacing. In a method for the painting of the combination of a bumper and with a bumper protective strip, the bumper and the bumper protective strip are before painting, secured together in a spaced relationship and are painted together. Thus, it is possible to paint bumper with bumper protective strips economically with exactly the same color hue and to transport them joined with one another.

Abstract: An attachment element for a bumper includes a partially closed profile with a back panel and on each side lateral tension struts, a bottom plate, or a cover, wherein the attachment element is configured as a part of the bumper and the configuration of the attachment element acts as crash absorbing element which can absorb shock impacts of up to 4 km/h in an elastic range and at shock impacts between 4 km/h and 15 km/h the crash absorbing elements deform thereby preventing damage to the vehicle carrier.
