Patent number: 7303706Abstract: The manufacture of foamed polymer trim parts making use of physical blowing agents requires the diffusion and sorption of the blowing agent in the polymer melt. Said diffusion and sorption are achieved by intensive mixing. Therefore a statical mixing device is enclosed in a pressure chamber, which comprises a hollow porous cylinder, which has a surface suitable for contacting the melt with the blowing agent. The protrusions extending at least partially into the melt flow cause a multiple reorganisation of the polymer melt, which leads to thorough mixing and shortens the diffusion path. The statical mixing device, which may be of modular construction, increases mass transport and mixing by a small modification of a conventional injection molding machine.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2002Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: Peguform GmbHInventor: Christian Schlummer

Patent number: 7293982Abstract: Foamed molded articles can be produced during an injection molding process, among other things, by utilizing physical blowing agents. Existing technologies differ to the greatest possible extent in the manner how the blowing agent is introduced into the melt. One possibility is to supply the blowing agent via mixing elements (9) from porous or permeable material that are provided across the screw piston (1) and which by means of a suitable blowing agent input unit load and homogeneously charge the melt with blowing agent during the metering phase of the polymeric material. The resulting single phase polymer/blowing agent mixture, when injected in to an injection mold tool, produces due to a reduction in pressure, a foam-textured part.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2003Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Peguform GmbHInventor: Christian Schlummer

Publication number: 20070120842Abstract: The invention relates to a method for removing material from a three-dimensional surface (1) of any shape in a multi-layered manner by means of a material removing agent (9) such as a laser that acts in points on a surface. According to said method, a surface structure (2) is removed from the three-dimensional surface (1), the surface is approximated by a polygon network, and raster images are associated with the polygons (19) of the polygon network (18). Said polygons are projected onto the machining region (1)) of the material removing means. A series of superimposed polygon networks being associated with a layer of material, each of the polygon networks being associated with a layer in which material is removed, if the information stored on the projected raster image indicates the planned removal of material.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2004Publication date: May 31, 2007Applicant: Peguform GmbHInventor: Raul Hess

Patent number: 7165780Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for triggering a gasbag which is arranged below the surface of a dashboard or a paneling of a vehicle. Gasbags of this type are generally referred to as airbags and are filled with a propellant. When the airbag is triggered, the pressure of the puffing-out sack actuates a flap 8 which is provided at its outer end with a connecting element 13. The connecting element can be designed as a slack tension cable, stiff lever or as a strap. When the airbag is actuated, the flap 8 is rotated about its hinge point and pulled rearward (i.e. away from the person to be protected) by the connecting element. This releases an opening in the vehicle interior paneling for the passage of the airbag. The arrangement of the airbag and of the flap require minimal depth dimensions for the airbag construction in the dashboard and therefore permits greater freedom in the configuration of the dashboard and therefore leads to greater space within the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2003Date of Patent: January 23, 2007Assignee: Peguform GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Jose Maria Segura

Patent number: 7055850Abstract: The invention concerns a component (1) for motor vehicles, in particular, instrument panel, lateral covering or side member covering, comprising an airbag cover (2) arranged in the region of the filler channel (3) and having a weaker resistance zone opening when the airbag is inflated. The covering zone located on either side of the weaker resistance zone can move freely, from an extracted airbag, along a clearance path while remaining linked to the component 91), after the airbag has been inflated, in specific manner. The airbag cover (20) is an elastic material. The weakened resistance zone extends over the opposite delimitations (4, 5) of the filler channel 93), so as to ensure the extension and inflation of the airbag. Said device eliminates possible damage to the inflated airbag and injury risks incurred by passengers as result the burst parts projected coming from said cover.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2002Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: Peguform GmbH & CO KGInventor: Bernd Freystedt
