Patent number: 5888008Abstract: A writing instrument has a supply chamber connected to reserve chamber by a refilling valve actuated by a plunger which is controlled by a push button formed with a self-closing membrane type valve through which the reserve chamber can be filled from a receptacle by a hollow needle. A separating valve at the end of the plunger closes before the refilling valve is opened to ensure that no ink under pressure will be forced into the ink flow regulator and point of the instrument during the refilling process.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1997Date of Patent: March 30, 1999Assignee: Pelikan GmbHInventors: Udo Obersteller, Bruno Kunzler

Patent number: 5863072Abstract: A data tag(1) for a writing implement (8) fitted with a clip (7). The clip has a longitudinal recess in its underside facing the writing implement (8). The tag is a strip of material (1) with a tab (2). The tab is insertable into the clearance between the writing implement (8) and the clip (7). The tab (2) is fitted at its top side facing the clip (7) with a folded and raised lip (5) which, in the insertion mode of the tab (2), snaps into the recess (11) and rests against the clip (7) in a direction opposite that of insertion. A resting edge (3, 4) is present on each side of the tab (2) and can be made to abut both the affixing end (10) of the clip (7) and the clip bead resting against the writing implement (8) for the purpose of limiting depth of insertion of the tab (2).Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Pelikan GmbHInventor: Gerhard F. Patent number: 5738458Abstract: A liquid-depositing implement includes a tubular case (1) containing a supply chamber (2) and a reservoir (3) isolated from the chamber with both the chamber and reservoir being fillable with a deposition liquid. A depositing element (6) can be mounted to the case (1) and connected to the supply chamber (2). The supply chamber includes a valve-system (4) composed of two mutually telescoping and displaceable bushes (9, 10) resting tightly against each other and enclosing a cell (16) bounded at each of its axial ends by at least one base (14, 15) affixed to the inner or outer bush. Two sets of cooperating valve apertures (17, 18; 19, 20) are present in such manner in the walls of the bushes (9, 10) that by rotating one bush (10) relative to the other bush (9), first one set of valve apertures (19, 20) passes from a communicating position to a sealed position and thereupon the other set of valve apertures (17, 18) passes from the sealed position into the communicating position.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Pelikan GmbHInventor: Gunter Ulrich

Patent number: 5597633Abstract: In order to promote tearing in a clean line of an adhesive film applied by a hand-held device to a substrate by unrolling an adhesive tape from a roller, pressing the tape against the substrate and winding up the carrier of the tape after the adhesive film is stripped therefrom, alginic acid in finely divided form is provided in the adhesive film.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1995Date of Patent: January 28, 1997Assignee: Pelikan GmbHInventors: Norbert Mecke, Lothar Titze

Patent number: 5338123Abstract: A double-ended pen has a pair of elongated liquid-holding reservoirs each having a rear end, a front end having a liquid-applying tip, an intermediate portion between the ends and having at the rear end a predetermined relatively small outside diameter, and a snap-type retaining formation. An intermediate coupling sleeve has a pair of oppositely open seats each receiving a respective one of the rear ends and provided with formations for retaining the respective rear ends securely against axial displacement. The sleeve also has a pair of axially opposite ends having axially oppositely directed end surfaces each having a portion extending at an acute angle to a plane perpendicular to the axis. The sleeve ends are of a diameter greater than the outside diameter of the intermediate portions and projecting radially therepast when the respective rear ends are fitted in the seats.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1993Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Pelikan GmbHInventors: Udo Obersteller, Wilhelm Schlink
