Abstract: A system and method to track, report, bill and account for time spent working by a service provider, such as an attorney or other user, is described.

Abstract: A time keeping system that operates within a personal information management application and includes a time capture component, a time preparation component and a time posting component. The time capture component includes at least one capture process that is configured to identify and record parameters associated with a billable event, such as creating an email, placing a phone call, receiving a phone call or some other similar event. Selected values are then entered for each billable event by the processes of the time preparation component. The time preparation component also enables a user to combine the parameters and values of a billable event into a new billable event. The time posting component enables the user to post the parameters and values associated with selected billable events to an accounting system.

Abstract: A computer system including a microprocessor and a storage medium, wherein the storage medium stores an accounting program. The storage device is connected to the microprocessor. The accounting programs is read by the microprocessor and operated the instructions of the accounting program. The instructions in the accounting program implement a method that receives user inputs indicating a certain client matter and a received payment amount, creates at least one entry for an operating account, determines at least one outstanding balance for at least one invoice for the certain client matter, and automatically creates at least one entry for the operating account and one entry for an IOLTA trust account.
