Patent number: 4344312Abstract: An adjustable cam arrangement is provided for controlling various work handling elements of a multistage press. Releasable cam disc members are mounted on a camshaft for actuating a respective cam follower associated with a work handling element. The cam disc members are drivingly coupled to the camshaft in response to a supply of fluid pressure. The cam disc members contain a pair of cam discs adjustable by a motor for independently rotating the cam discs relative to the camshaft for varying the duration and timing of work handling elements.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Assignee: Peltzer & Ehlers GmbH & Co.Inventors: Walter Flamme, Oskar Rahn

Patent number: 4307600Abstract: A forming press is disclosed having a press frame, a slidable press carriage, and at least one tool couple comprising a plunger and a matrix. A pressure member is movable in the direction of motion of the press carriage for bracing the plunger against the press carriage. A screw controlled adjustment means including a motor is mounted on the press frame for driving the screw of the adjustment means and thereby positioning the pressure member. A drive gear is mounted on the screw, and coupling means is provided for connecting the motor and the drive gear at a predetermined position of the press carriage.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1979Date of Patent: December 29, 1981Assignee: Peltzer & Ehlers GmbH & Co.Inventors: Walter Flamme, Oskar Rahn

Patent number: 4299000Abstract: A method for the preparation of hexagonal nuts by cold forming wherein a blank is shaped and formed to a hexagonal configuration wherein the distances across the flats of the hexagon are greater than in the finished nut, and thereafter the rough nut is forced into a shaping die and over a punch concentric therewith, whereby the punch forms the central opening in the nut and the shaping die reduces the distances across the flats of the hexagon to that of the final nut size.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1979Date of Patent: November 10, 1981Assignee: Peltzer & EhlersInventor: Friedrich-Karl Koch

Patent number: 4285453Abstract: A wire insertion apparatus particularly for forming presses and the like comprising at least one pair of insertion rollers between which a wire or rod is periodically advanced by a predetermined insertion length, a crank and connecting rod mechanism connecting at least one of the insertion rollers to a drive shaft for producing a periodic angular movement of the insertion rollers, the mechanism comprising an intermediate lever member pivotally mounted on an axis, first and second linkage rods connecting the intermediate member respectively with an eccentric on the drive shaft and an eccentric mounted on one of the insertion rollers so that rotation of the drive shaft produces angular movement of the insertion roller in response to pivotal motion of the intermediate lever member, and means for shifting the pivot point of one of the linkage rods so as to change the distance between the pivot axis and that rod and thereby change the degree of angular movement of the insertion rollers.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1979Date of Patent: August 25, 1981Assignee: Peltzer & Ehlers GmbH & Co.Inventors: Walter Flamme, Willi Mielke

Patent number: 4078415Abstract: A process for producing shaped bodies which are essentially hollow with particularly configured cavities at each end of the body. The process includes a unique step of simultaneously forming the final configured cavity at one end of the body and reducing the exterior diameter of the same end of the body.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Peltzer & EhlersInventors: Friedrich-Karl Koch, Christoph Sieber, Horst Schmidt

Patent number: 4044619Abstract: A device for actuating an ejector plunger or the like on the movable carriage of a press, comprising a two-arm lever pivoted on the carriage, one arm of which is operatively connected to the plunger. The other arm has a member that runs on a track extending parallel to the line of travel of the carriage. The track is located on a member that is mounted on a stationary part of the machine and is movable in the direction normal to the line of travel of the carriage. Operating means is connected to the member to move the same periodically in the transverse direction, thereby rocking the two-arm lever and actuating the plunger. During normal operational movement of the carriage, the member on said other arm of the lever moves parallel to the track and is not affected thereby.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1975Date of Patent: August 30, 1977Assignee: Peltzer & EhlersInventors: Friedrich-Karl Koch, Hugo Schneiders

Patent number: 4014203Abstract: An axially movable ejector rod has one end abutting against one arm of a pivoted ejector lever. A second arm on the ejector lever has a generally radially extending plane surface that is contacted by a roller carried at the end of a lever arm pivoted on a supporting slide. The roller also rides on a second plane surface on one arm of an intermediate lever, the other arm of which is connected to a link. This link is reciprocated by a rotating cam, causing the intermediate lever to rock and pressing its plane surface against the roller. The roller, in turn, presses against the arm of the ejector lever and causes the latter to rock. As the intermediate lever and ejector lever rock on their respective pivots, the roller rolls along the respective plane surfaces. The supporting slide carrying the lever arm with its roller is movable in the direction to shift the roller along the two plane surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1975Date of Patent: March 29, 1977Assignee: Peltzer & EhlersInventors: Friedrich-Karl Koch, Hugo Schneiders
