  • Patent number: 6171361
Abstract: A glass composition which is lithium-free and which is suitable as a metallurgical mold powder includes, based on total weight of the glass composition: Oxide wt % Na2O  0.2-14.4 K2O 0.0-2.5 CaO 31.0-41.9 Al2O3 4.9-8.5 B2O3 0.00-1.9  SiO2 15.6-30.0 F 18.1-30.8 wherein the glass composition has a total content of Na2O+K2O+CaO which ranges from about 38.4 to about 52.6% so that the glass composition is lithium-free and suitable as a metallurgical mold powder.

  • Patent number: 4420202
Abstract: A cable coupler is disclosed for interconnecting a first plurality of plural-phase high voltage cables with a second plurality of plural-phase high voltage cables. The first plurality of cables is coupled to a like number of female terminals, whereas the second plurality of cables is connected to a like number of male terminals adapted to matingly contact the female terminals. The female terminals are adapted to be mounted within a female housing by a mounting means illustratively taking the form of a disc with openings spaced from each other to receive the female terminals. Similarly, there is included a male housing having a similar disc for mounting the male terminals in a spaced relationship with each other and in an aligned relationship with the female terminals.

  • Patent number: 4389694
Abstract: There is disclosed a monitoring system for insuring the continuity and integrity of a power distribution system comprising a plurality of trailing cables, each trailing cable connected at a central station to a common power source and transmitting a power energizing signal to a load disposed at a remote location. In particular, the monitoring system comprises a transmitter and receiver for each trailing cable of the power distribution system whereby a monitoring signal is transmitted from the central station to the remote location and returned to be detected by the receiver. If there is a fault condition within the trailing cable, the receiver provides a signal indicative thereof to be applied to a circuit breaker or coupling switch actuating the coupling switch to its open position thereby disconnecting the power from the trailing cable and its load.

  • Patent number: 4037265
Abstract: An improved electrical power supply system is disclosed for preventing arcing between two or more electrical machines energized by a common power source with at least one of said machines receiving power through a lengthy power cable, said cable having a grounding conductor connecting the external conductive housing of said machine to earth ground. A unique multi-winding transformer is connected between the common power source and the cable, so that arcing attributable to voltage induced in the cable grounding conductor is limited to non-dangerous current levels by an inductive impedance from a first winding of the multi-winding transformers, which winding in series with the cable grounding conductor. However, under short circuit conditions, another winding of the multi-winding transformer overcomes the inductive impedance of the first winding so that the current carrying capacity of the cable grounding conductor is no longer limited by the impedance of the first winding.
