  • Patent number: 9042922
Abstract: A method for managing carrier status via the Short Message Service (SMS) by a centralized system in a multi-carrier environment includes: associating a driver with a first load to be transported, using an SMS-enabled cellphone number of the driver; storing the association of driver and load in a database of the system, along with a unique identifier of the carrier; transmitting, by the server to the driver, an instruction as a text message to the driver's cell phone with instructions for replying upon arrival; receiving, by the server from the driver, a response consistent with the instructions for replying upon arrival; updating, by the server, a status associated with the driver's response in the database; repeating the steps for a second driver of a second carrier; and providing, by the centralized system, status reports related to both the driver and associated load, and the second driver and associated load.

  • Publication number: 20040150148
Abstract: The invention provides moveable supports for machine parts such as automotive body components during repair, painting, assembly, alignment, and other processes. The provision of multiple, spaced frame and support members of suitable length, spacing, and orientation, enables workers to access all surfaces of supported components; and support members having angled flange portions enable access to portions of supported components engaged by the support members. Supports according to the invention can be employed as jigs to support parts during, for example, assembly, disassembly, and/or alignment of components. The provision of wheels, brackets, lugs, hooks, and other devices enable easy and safe transportation for support devices and supported components.

  • Patent number: 6571197
Abstract: Data processing systems and methods for recommending vehicles for transporting defined sets of items such as furniture or other property. A user interface allows a user to define characteristics of a transport load. Characteristics include, for example, volume, weight, and quantity of items to be loaded. Defined load characteristics are used in conjunction with additional factors such as, for example, local vehicle availability and/or predicted user packing efficiency, by the data processing system to determine a recommended vehicle or vehicle capacity, and to designate a preferred vehicle from an available inventory. Optionally items may be designated as constituting part of a vehicle load through user selection of system-defined or user-defined graphical representations of the items through using a computer interface controller, and “dragging and dropping” into a load designation field on a graphical interface.
