  • Patent number: 10725061
Abstract: A device for counting particles on a sample surface includes a scanner probe having a first opening for receiving particles from a sample surface and one or more second openings, a particle detector for detecting particles passed there-through, a modulator for modulating air flowing there-through, a pump for producing a first airstream flowing from the first opening and through the particle detector, and for producing a second airstream flowing through the modulator and to the one or more second openings, and control circuitry for controlling the modulator to modulate an amplitude of the second airstream.

  • Patent number: 10712355
Abstract: A particle counting device includes a scanner probe having a first opening for receiving particles from a sample surface and second openings. Pumps produce a first airstream flowing from the first opening and a second airstream flowing to the second openings. A flow device splits the first airstream into third and fourth airstreams. A first particle detector detects particles in the third airstream. The first particle detector is capable of detecting particles within a first range of particle sizes. A second particle detector detects particles in the fourth airstream. The second particle detector is capable of detecting particles within a second range of particle sizes different from the first range of particle sizes. Control circuitry controls the flow device and the pumps to provide a first flow rate of the third airstream and a second flow rate of the fourth airstream that is larger than the first flow rate.

  • Patent number: 8642124
Abstract: A gas dispersion shield and method for protecting the bottom surface of a gas deposition chamber, while injecting gas from a gas insertion channel into the chamber at a non-vertical angle. The gas dispersion shield includes a cylindrically shaped vertical sidewall, an annular flange extending horizontally and outwardly from the sidewall upper end, and a horizontal wall that extends inwardly from the sidewall lower end. The flange includes a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of holes formed through the flange each extending in a non-vertical direction from the bottom surface to the top surface. The bottom surface includes an annular protrusion that fits at least partially into the gas insertion channel, to ensure the gas flows through the non-vertical holes instead of escaping around the flange.

  • Patent number: 7010991
Abstract: A surface particle detector that includes a scanner slidable over a surface, a particle counter for counting particles passed therethrough, and a conduit connected between the scanner and the particle counter. The particle counter includes a pump for creating an airstream for drawing particles from the surface, through the scanner and conduit, to the particle counter, and back to the scanner. A sensor measures the airstream flow rate, and a controller controls the pump speed based upon the sensed airstream flow rate. The conduit attaches to the particle counter via a first connector, which contains electronic indicia identifying the type of scanner attached to the other end of the conduit. The controller controls the particle counter in response to the detected electronic indicia. The particle counter also includes a removable filter cartridge with a filter element that captures the counted particles for laboratory analysis.

  • Patent number: 6888453
Abstract: An environmental monitoring system is disclosed including a plurality of sensors, a plurality of sensor modules each electrically connected to one of the plurality of sensors for generating a ID signal that uniquely identifies the one sensor electrically connected thereto, a plurality of first electrical connectors each electrically connected to one of the sensor modules and a central monitoring unit that includes a plurality of second electrical connectors for connection with the first electrical connectors, a CPU for receiving the ID signals via the first and second electrical connectors for identifying each of the sensors in response to the received ID signals and for configuring operating parameters for each of the identified sensors, and a storage medium for storing sensor data corresponding to the sensor signals. Other elements of the monitoring system can include a power supply, at least one input/output module and calibration ports.
