Patent number: 12138600Abstract: Carbonation apparatus is provided for carbonating a mixed input flow of pressurized and refrigerated carbon dioxide and water. A first cartridge is disposed within the carbonation chamber, defining a porous micromesh net in fluid communication with the input flow and a central cavity in fluid communication with the carbonation chamber output port. The micromesh net is configured to break up chains of water molecules passing through the net, to enhance bonding between the water and carbon dioxide molecules within the cartridge. The net also responds to the flow of water and carbon dioxide molecules impacting and passing through the net by generating a passive polarizing field that has a polarizing influence on the water molecules to further enhance bonding. Beads may be provided within the cartridge for capturing and stabilizing carbon dioxide molecules to yet further enhance bonding between the water and the carbon dioxide molecules.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2022Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: PepsiCo, Inc.Inventors: Giancarlo Fantappie, Farshad Kamali, Diego Macrellino, Joey Miyamoto

Patent number: 12129072Abstract: An aseptic-fill beverage container can include a body and a base having a standing ring, a central portion, and an isolation ring that surrounds the central portion. One or more ribs can extend from the isolation ring to the standing ring such that the ribs do not extend outward the standing ring or inward to the central portion. The ribs can be s-shaped to provide rigidity and limit or prevent deformation to the base.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2021Date of Patent: October 29, 2024Assignee: PepsiCo, Inc.Inventors: Advait Rasik Bhat, Martin Mathelier

Patent number: 12122654Abstract: A drink station is provided with an alkaline filter cartridge in fluid communication with an ambient temperature water line provide alkaline water, and with a chilled water mixed with the alkaline water at a spigot to provide chilled alkaline water. A hot water heating element is located below the spigot so hot water flows upward for dispensing from the spigot, with a vent line between the heating element and spigot helping hot water to flow from the spigot to the heating element. A refrigeration system and a carbonation system is also provided. The refrigeration system uses the ice-bank technology. A submersible agitator pump improves heat exchanged between ice-bank and water by forced convection. The agitator pump operating based on the temperature of the drinking water. A figure eight evaporator coil can provide two cylindrical ice banks and two chilled water coils to increase the chilled water capacity.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2022Date of Patent: October 22, 2024Assignee: PepsiCo, Inc.Inventors: Giancarlo Fantappie, Diego Macrellino

Patent number: 12110225Abstract: A container filling valve may include a shuttle and a drive sleeve that are magnetically coupled. Movement of the drive sleeve may move the shuttle from a position in which the filling valve is closed to a position in which the filling valve is open. A container handling arm may include a distal end configured to hold a container and a proximal end that includes a load cell. A low flow setpoint system may be configured to arrest closing of a filling valve when that filling valve is partially closed. A pressure control system may be configured to maintain a desired pressure in a reservoir or in a flow path from that reservoir. A product recirculation system may be configured to adjust flow rate in the product recirculation system.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2023Date of Patent: October 8, 2024Assignee: PepsiCo, Inc.Inventors: John A. Patent number: 12048905Abstract: A carbonated beverage maker includes a water reservoir, a carbon dioxide creation chamber, and a carbonation chamber. The water reservoir holds ice water and has a first impeller and a shroud surrounding the first impeller. The carbon dioxide creation chamber contains chemical elements and receives warm water. The chemical elements react with each other to create carbon dioxide when the warm water is introduced to the carbon dioxide creation chamber. The carbonation chamber is connected to the water reservoir and the carbon dioxide creation chamber. The carbonation chamber has a second impeller that includes a stem portion and blades. The stem portion and the blades define conduits therein. The blades create a low pressure region in a lower portion of the carbonation chamber such that carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide creation chamber flows through the conduits to the low pressure region.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2022Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: PepsiCo, Inc.Inventors: Steven T.
