  • Patent number: 8286608
Abstract: A sealing system for oscillating-piston engines that include two oscillating pistons that revolve together in a spherical housing. The pistons perform reciprocating oscillating movements in opposite directions about an oscillation axis perpendicular to the axis of revolution for the pistons. Guide members are provided on the pistons and engage at least one guide groove formed in the housing. Sealing elements are disposed on or in the vicinity of all moving edges surrounding working chambers and prechambers for the engine. The sealing elements seal all the gap regions present between machine parts displaced relative to one another by revolving and/or oscillating movements and not in direct contact. Sealing elements prevent excessive penetration of lubricating fluid into inlet and outlet openings in the housing.

Abstract: The sealing system for oscillating-piston engines, comprising at least two oscillating pistons (15) which revolve together in a spherical housing (24) about an axis (45) of revolution provided in the housing centre and which each have two opposite piston arms, which, when revolving, perform reciprocating oscillating movements in opposite directions about an oscillation axis (46) perpendicular to the axis (45) of revolution, wherein guide members (47) are provided on at least two pistons, said guide members (47) engaging in at least one guide groove (39) formed in the housing (24) for controlling the oscillating movements, has sealing elements (1, 2, 12, 14, 26, 33) on or in the vicinity of all moving edges surrounding the working chambers (17) and prechambers (30), which sealing elements (1, 2, 12, 14, 26, 33) close in a sealing manner all the gap regions present between machine parts displaced relative to one another by revolving and/or oscillating movements and not in direct contact, and has additional seal

  • Patent number: 7469673
Abstract: A rotary-piston engine includes at least two rotary pistons, which are located in an essentially spherical housing and which rotate in common about a rotational axis running through the center of the housing, each of the rotary pistons comprising two pistons that are interconnected in a fixed manner, lie diametrically opposite the center of the housing and execute pivoting displacements back and forth in opposite directions about a pivoting axis running perpendicular to the rotational axis, during their rotation. To control the pivoting displacements, the engine is provided with loose spherical or ellipsoidal rotational bodies, which are rotatably mounted in the sliding surfaces of the pistons in respective guide sockets that are hemispherical or ellipsoidal and which engage in at least one guide groove that is configured in the housing. The groove has an essentially hemispherical or ellipsoidal profile.

  • Patent number: 6106054
Abstract: The device, which may be used singly or multiply in road vehicles, for improving the driving characteristics includes at least one freely rotatable guide fin, whose first pivotal axis is connected to the vehicle structure, and, above the guide fin, an upwardly projecting control fin, which is pivotable about a second pivotal axis and which adjusts the guide fin by means of air force in order to achieve predetermined guide forces in dependence on its deflection, with respect to the guide fin.
