Publication number: 20150136625Abstract: The present disclosure concerns packaging adapted to accommodate a series of implant components, e.g. femoral components for artificial knee joints, which vary in size but have a common thickness dimension. The packaging is designed to provide a clearance between its internal parts which approximates this common thickness dimension but is also able to accommodate variations in the other dimensions of the implant components. In a convenient approach, a base portion is provided which has a vertical projection with a top surface adapted to support a portion of the inner surface of the major arch of the components of said series. It is mated with a second structural member which has an arcurate surface whose contour approximates a portion of the outside surface of the major arch of the components in this series. Means are provided for holding it in a fixed special relationship with said base portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2013Publication date: May 21, 2015Applicant: Perfecseal, Inc.Inventor: Tad R. Kinyon

Publication number: 20150076023Abstract: Packaging which can accommodate medical articles such as a series of orthopedic implants e.g. femoral stem components for prosthetic hip joints which have a dimension which varies minimally across the series but which vary considerably in overali size. The packaging is designed to minimize the travel of any member of the series packaged therein such that all the packaged components in the series can pass the standard handling and shipping tests typically used by the manufacturers of medical articles such as implants and preferably comprises two thermoformed tray components which each carry three types of cavities which are interconnected and designed to be assembled with their cavities facing each other to contain the lower stem, body and angled shaft of the stem component, respectively, with the cavities for the lower stem and the body cooperating to capture a minimally varying dimension of the series.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2013Publication date: March 19, 2015Applicant: Perfecseal, Inc.Inventor: Tad R. Kinyon

Patent number: 7938580Abstract: A package (599) with three layers allows sterilization of the package contents, provides a separate area for a scavenger and minimizes the oxygen transmission rate for the package and has, in one embodiment, a third layer (330) with a first section (336) of breathable polymeric material, a second section (334) of substantially non-breathable polymeric material and a third section (332) of breathable polymeric material which is positioned between a first layer (512) of substantially non-breathable polymeric material and a second layer (514) of substantially non-breathable polymeric material. The first layer (512) and the second layer (514) are fixed together to define a non-breathable pouch (516); and the third layer (330) is fixed to the first layer (512) and the second layer (514) and divides the non-breathable pouch (516) into a first compartment (592) and a second compartment (594).Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2005Date of Patent: May 10, 2011Assignee: Perfecseal, Inc.Inventors: Paul Gaskell, Conor Brendan Ward, Gerry A. Patent number: 7316318Abstract: The invention is directed to a suspension package that is used to support and protect sensitive articles such as prosthetics and other medical implants when such articles are being shipped. The suspension package is comprised of a pouch, and a tray member and a cover member. The pouch is designed to be connected to and suspended between the tray member and the cover member. During shipping, the tray member and the cover member protect the packaged article to prevent damage. The pouch includes apertures around its perimeter that allow the pouch to be attached to suspension posts of the tray member. The suspension posts are tapered and include detent grooves that are designed to stretch and retain the pouch to prevent movement during shipping.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Perfecseal, Inc.Inventors: David Rosten, Tad Kinyon, Chris Osborn
