Abstract: A combination featherbed and unitary featherbed cover includes a featherbed having a plurality of first fastening elements and a featherbed cover having a corresponding plurality of second fastening elements allowing the featherbed cover to be releasably attached to the featherbed. The featherbed cover includes a cloth material layer and a backing material layer fixedly attached to the cloth material layer. In view of its compactness and materials of construction, the featherbed cover is well-suited for being cleaned in conventional home washer and dryer appliances.

Abstract: A mattress cover that enhances an existing mattress is comprised of a skirt and a pad formed from textile material and dimensioned to cover a non-pillow top mattress. The pad is formed from textile material and includes a compressible fill material. The pad is for being positioned over the top of the mattress and is secured to the skirt. The pad includes a trough that extends around at least part of the outer periphery of the pad. The trough has a generally planar lower face that extends generally perpendicular to the skirt and includes an outward end secured to the skirt. The trough has a generally planar upper face connected to the lower face at an inward seam and angled from the lower face at an acute angle such that the trough is generally v-shaped in cross section.

Abstract: A power supply system for outputting low voltage electrical power from a high voltage power source includes an isolation-type power conversion device, such as a transformer having a primary high voltage side and an isolated secondary low voltage side. The low voltage side is interconnected with a power output arrangement, which is adapted to supply low voltage power to a load, which may be in the form of an electric blanket or the like. A switching arrangement is interconnected with the high voltage primary side of the power conversion device, for providing intermittent operation of the power conversion device. The period of intermittent operation of the power conversion device is controlled via a control arrangement, to vary the power output from the low voltage secondary side of the transformer and thereby to the electrical load.

The pad also comprises a skirt for covering the sides and ends of a mattress. The batting layer is generally sized to a peripheral dimension to form the top platform of a mattress pad. The skirt is an integral extension of one of the first or second layers of the mattress pad. Abstract: A heating arrangement includes a pliable member such as a blanket, mattress pad, throw, etc., having a heating element that is engageable with a power supply via a connection arrangement secured to the heating element and to the pliable member, and a connector from a power supply cord that extends from the power supply. The connection arrangement includes a housing within which the ends of the heating element are located, and a mounting member that surrounds the housing and is connected to the pliable member for maintaining the connection arrangement in place. The ends of the heating element include connector pins that are received within passages defined by the housing, and which are adapted for engagement by receivers associated with the power supply connector. A retainer arrangement is interposed between the power supply connector and the housing, for releasably maintaining the power supply connector in engagement with the housing.

The interior of the pliable member includes a series of passages within which the heating elements are located. The heating elements have a non-linear configuration such that the overall length of the heating element contained within each passage has a length greater than that of the passage, which enables the heating elements to stretch and flex when the blanket portion is subjected to a concentrated load.

Abstract: All four corners of a single rectangular piece of quilted material are notched to form a mattress shield blank. The blank has a rectangular center portion substantially the same size as the top of the mattress to be covered, two side portions substantially the same size as the sides of the mattress and two end portions which are larger than the ends of the mattress. Each of the side and end portions are folded downwardly to form the sides and ends of the mattress shield and each pair of abutting side and end portions are secured together to form four vertical corners. The end flaps or the remaining parts of the end portions are then folded inwardly so as to be parallel to the top portion. These flaps are adapted to cover a portion of the bottom of the mattress and are secured to the side portions adjacent the edges of the flaps. In a second embodiment, the side portions are also provided with flaps which are secured at their edges to the edges of the end flaps.
