Abstract: System, method, and device is presented for generating and processing tissue-monitoring signals. An emitting driver is operable to control, upon receipt of at least one emitted signal, an optical emitter to emit at least one emitted signal. A processor is coupled to the at least one optical emitter and operable to execute instructions to generate the at least one emitted signal. At least one photodetector is operable to detect one or more photons transmitted through tissue and to convert the detected photons into a detected signal. A hardware processing sequence is coupled to the photodetector and processor. The hardware processing sequence is operable to filter and condition the detected signal.

  • Publication number: 20190133471
Abstract: Provided herein are methods and devices configured to detect the heart rate of a user. The method includes receiving at least one input signal, separating the input signal into signal components, receiving a motion signal from the user, and applying a Bayesian filter to the signal components and the motion signal to estimate the heart rate of the user. The method further includes calculating a combination of at least two reflected light signals from at least two different wavelengths. The device includes a photodetector configured to detect at least one reflected light signal resulting from the emitted at least two different wavelengths and a motion detector for detecting a motion signal. The device also includes a processing component configured to calculate a combination of the reflected light signals, separate the combination of detected light signals into signal components, and apply a Bayesian filter to the signals.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods and devices operable to monitor the hydration of a user. The wearable device for hydration monitoring includes an emitting component operable to emit light having at least three different wavelengths, a sensor operable to receive a reflected portion of the emitted light, and a processor operable to receive signals from the sensor. At least one of the wavelengths is in the range from 900 nm to 1600 nm for optical detection of a level of water. The method for hydration monitoring includes emitting light from a light emitting component operable to emit light having at least three different wavelengths and detecting light with at least one photodetector. At least three distances between the light emitting component and the photodetector are known and the at least three distances allow monitoring of at least two different tissue beds with at least two different tissue depths.

  • Publication number: 20170303788
Abstract: Device configured to non-invasively perform tissue monitoring. The device can include at least two light emitting components and at least one photodiode configured to receive reflected light generated from the at least two light emitting components. The at least one photodiode is spaced apart from the at least two light emitting components. The device can include an analog-to-digital converter component configured to generate a digitized detected light signal based on data received from the at least one photodiode. The device can further include a processor configured to execute instructions to process the digitized signals. The device can included an ambient light blocking component configured to surround the at least two light emitting components and the at least one photodiode to prevent external light from entering a region bounded by the ambient light blocking component. The device can also include at least one filter mounted over the at least one photodiode.
