Patent number: 6219110Abstract: Light emitted from a white light source is separated into red, green and blue light beams by dichroic mirrors. The resulting light beams are directed onto a lenticular lens system having large-pitch lenticular lenses and small-pitch lenticular lenses formed on opposed surfaces. This lens system converts the red, green and blue light beams incident on each of the large-pitch lenticular lenses into a color band set consisting of a set of separated subbands of the red, green and blue light beams the diameter of which is narrowed down to one-third or less of that of the incident light beam through the small-pitch lenticular lenses. The resulting color band sets emerging from the small-pitch lenticular lenses are focused onto a DMD panel through a mirror galvanometer and a coupling lens. The mirror galvanometer is rotated in such a way as to move the color band sets over the DMD panel up and down by the amount corresponding to the pitch of the color band sets while the DMD panel is being driven.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Assignees: IBM Japan, Ltd., Advanced Peripherals Technologies Inc.Inventors: Yoshimoto Ishikawa, Mitsuo Harahata, Akinori Kaneko

Patent number: 6017222Abstract: An electrical connector assembly is used to connect first and second flexible connecting strips of a film circuitry and a main circuit board. Each of the first and second flexible connecting strips has a flat end portion and a plurality of electrical terminals formed on one of the opposite side faces of the flat end portion. The electrical connector assembly includes an inverted U-shaped clip member and a connector board. The inverted U-shaped clip member has first and second leg portions. The first leg portion is integrally formed with the flat end portion of the first flexible connecting strip. The second leg portion is connected adhesively to the flat end portion of the second flexible connecting strip. The connector board has a plurality of conductive members formed on two opposed side faces of the connector board, and a mating portion for connecting electrically the conductive members to the main circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1998Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Peripheral Technology Inc.Inventor: George Kao

Patent number: 5880447Abstract: To provide an output data controller which is capable of protecting the secrecy of print data and enhancing operability and where the degree of freedom of system constructability is high. In a file server, ID data is added to the header file of the print data stored in a first queue, and data representative of copy printing is added to the header file stored in a second queue. In security print mode, print data is not output to a printing device, if an ID and a password number collate with each other in a print server. In copy print mode, print data with data representative of copy printing is selected and output to the printing device.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignees: IBM Japan, Ltd., Advanced Peripherals Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Narihiko Okada, Yoshio Kurishita, Hirobumi Katoh, Tetsuo Kanno

Patent number: 5850194Abstract: A computer key includes a one-piece base plate which is punched to form left and right retaining guideways that are spaced from each other in a longitudinal direction of the base plate. The retaining guideways include left and right retaining portions which extend uprightly from the base plate, and left and right blocking portions which extend from distal ends of the retaining portions away from each other and substantially longitudinal to the base plate. The blocking portions have left and right widths defined in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction by front and rear left and right rough edges. A frame assembly includes first and second linking frames which are pivotally connected at intermediate portions thereof.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1997Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Peripheral Technology, Inc.Inventor: Jie-Tsung Lin

Patent number: 5680596Abstract: A data transfer apparatus includes a computer-side input and output unit for transmitting a data signal which is periodically updated, and a printer-side input and output unit for receiving the data signal transmitted from the computer-side input and output unit and detecting the logic level of the data signal. Particularly, this data transfer apparatus further includes a state transition time measuring circuit, a computer-side CPU, and a printer-side CPU cooperated to transmit a transition test data signal from the computer-side input and output unit in a tuning mode, measure the transition time of the transition test data signal received by the printer-side input and output unit, and adjust transfer parameters which define the transmission rate of the data signal to be transmitted from the computer-side input and output unit and a timing for detecting the logic level of the data signal, on the basis of a result of measurement.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignees: International Business Machines Corporation, Advanced Peripherals Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Shinji Iizuka, Mamoru Kajinami, Tetsuo Kanno

Patent number: 4866554Abstract: An automatic head retract system for a disk drive. The system operates in response to electric power turn off to retract the heads to a landing zone on the disk surface. The heads are retracted by operating a positioner motor under the control of logic internal to the disk drive unit without intervention by a host computer. The positioner motor comprises a multiphase DC brushless motor which, after power loss, is supplied with current from a capacitor charged during normal drive usage, and by the back EMF of a spindle motor. A latch mechanically locks the heads in the landing zone.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Peripheral Technology, Inc.Inventors: Donald G. Stupeck, Gaston A. Palombo, Ara W. Nazarian, Hugh K. Gagnier
