Patents Assigned to Peterson Tool Company
  • Patent number: 6425308
Abstract: A toolholder apparatus is provided for holding a cutting tool adjacent a rotating workpiece. The apparatus includes a mounting block base and a mounting block body slidably supported on the base. A first adjustable connector connects the body to the base so that apposition of the body on the base can be adjusted in a first direction toward the workpiece. A center adjustment block slidably engages the body. A second adjustable connector connects the center adjustment block and the body so that a position of the center adjustment block on the body can be adjusted in a second direction transverse to the first direction and transverse to the rotational axis of the workpiece. A head is detachably mounted on the center. adjustment block. The head is removable from the center adjustment block by. sliding movement in a third direction transverse to both of the first and second directions.

  • Patent number: 6182542
Abstract: A toolholder apparatus includes a head, a cutting tool mounting fixture attached to the head for holding the cutting tool, and a floating roller assembly pivotally mounted relative to the head. These components are arranged and constructed so that during the cutting of a workpiece with the cutting tool the floating roller assembly can pivot about a pivotal axis relative to the head to allow the floating roller assembly to align with the workpiece. A mechanism is also provided for accomplishing the initial adjustment of alignment of the cutting tool with the rotating workpiece. This mechanism includes a cylindrical shaft extending from the head, and having an eccentric cam follower lug extending transversely from the shaft. A mounting block has a cylindrical bore disposed therethrough, and the shaft is received through the bore of the mounting block. A cam piece is slideably disposed within the mounting block to rotate the shaft as the cam piece slides relative to the mounting block.

  • Patent number: 6082234
Abstract: An adjustable toolholder apparatus includes a base plate having a planar supporting surface. A holder body includes a bottom planar supported surface which slideably engages and rests upon the supporting surface of the base plate. A linear position adjuster provides a linear sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. An angular position adjuster provides a rotational sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. The holder body has a wedge shaped recess within which is received a wedge shaped carrier block. A vertically adjustable column supports the wedge shaped carrier block from the base plate to adjust a height of the cutting tool. After linear and angular adjustment of the cutting tool relative to the base plate, the wedge shaped carrier block is clamped to the holder body, and the holder body and base plate are clamped to a cross slide to fix the cutting tool in its final desired position.

  • Patent number: 4414870
Abstract: The specification discloses a cutting tool (10) having a cutting insert (18) mounted thereon. A clamp (20) is secured to a tool body (12) by a screw (24) and spring (62) interconnection, and a clamp tip (22) extends from the clamp (20) towards the insert (18). Structure, such as a groove (25) or shoulder (82), is formed in or on the upper surface of the cutting insert (18) for interengaging with the clamp tip (22) to secure the cutting insert on the cutting tool (10). Lateral shoulders (30) and (32) and a body surface (52) engage and align the insert (18) thereby, preventing lateral, rearward, and rotational movement of the insert (18).
