Patent number: 6869322Abstract: A method is provided for producing an electrically conductive connection between metallic components (2, 6), such as an agitator blade assembly (6) and a drive shaft (2) which have a non-conductive coating (7). In the method an at least partially electrically conductive pasty medium (8) is located in a pocket (12) between the components (2, 6) in contact with metallic portions (9, 10) of the components (2, 6) which are substantially free of any non-conductive coating (7). The connection between the components (2, 6) themselves provide a protection against the pasty medium (8) being accidentally removed from the region in use. Patent number: 6139026Abstract: A sealing gasket for sealing a flange face, especially a flange face that may be sensitive to uneven application of pressure or that cannot be provided with any sort of flange retaining means comprising a sharp angle in the flange surface. The gasket includes at least a metal ring, a reinforced fluoropolymer sheet, an O ring and a fluoropolymer protective shield. The metal ring is defined by inside and outside circumferences, by widely separated outwardly directed parallel surfaces that in turn define maximum thickness of the ring, by narrowly separated parallel surfaces defining opposing depressed portions in the ring and by opposing shoulders. Each of the widely separated parallel surfaces is covered by at least one reinforced fluoropolymer sheet having inside and outside surfaces positioned so that the inside surface of the sheet faces and covers at least one of the widely separated parallel surfaces and so that the outside surface faces outwardly. The impeller has a plurality of angles and edges, all of which have a rounded configuration to permit glassing. The impeller further includes at least two variable pitch blades. Each blade has front and rear surfaces both defined by an inside edge having a leading end and a trailing end, an outside edge having a leading end and a trailing end, a leading edge connecting the leading end of the inside edge to the leading end of the outside edge and a trailing edge that connects the trailing end of the inside edge to the trailing end of the outside edge. The apparatus further includes an insert tube having an outside diameter sized to permit insertion through the nozzle and of sufficient length to extend completely through the nozzle and extend beyond a lowermost portion of the nozzle. The insert tube has an inside surface, and an external surface having an upper end portion. The upper end portion of the external surface of the insert tube is in contact with and integral with the inside end surface of the internal flange. The insert tube is usually welded to the internal flange at that location. The external surface of the insert tube is threaded below the lowermost portion of the nozzle. The body also has a probe access hole passing through the body from the exterior surface to the central hole. The upper surface, lower surface and defining surfaces of the central hole are covered by a contiguous layer of a corrosion resistant metal, which is preferably tantalum. A probe is mounted in the probe access hole such that an end of a sensor portion of the probe is integral with said lining over the central surface and such that the probe may be connected with an electrical conductor through the probe access hole. The method comprises forming a compression seal about a stud in a base which comprises placing layers of a compressible sealing material on the base material about the stud. The layers are placed parallel to the base, and a relatively rigid material is placed over the compressible material so that the stud extends through both the compressible material and rigid material. The layers of the compressible material are compressed into sealing relationship by applying force to the rigid material in a direction against the base and only normal to the base; and securing and sealing the rigid material to the stud to maintain such compression, thus forming a seal to the base material about the stud.
