Abstract: A device for administering liquid in a device for the parenteral administration of liquid, comprising a pump which conveys the liquid through an elastic tube to the patient, the entry of air into the tube is prevented by the provision of a valve (20) in the tube downstream of the pump. This valve opens in the patient's direction under a pressure of such magnitude that the pressure inside the tube upstream of the valve is at least approximately as great as the external air pressure. The check valve provided may be used together with a pump as well as under mere gravity feeding.

Abstract: A control clamp for adjusting the flow rate of a liquid through a flexible hose, such as the hose of an infusion device is provided with a manually operable means for varying the flow cross section of the hose. The means comprises three clamping jaws (14,14',14") of circular sector shape, in section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hose (10), the relative spacing between the clamping jaws being variable by moving them along radii (16,16',16") which intersect the longitudinal axis (20).

Abstract: An infusion device is provided with an injection molded drip chamber, a drop sensor, such as a light barrier (26,28) or a piezoelectric crystal. An evaluation circuit processes the output signals furnished by the drop sensor and an optical display means (24) indicates the same to the operator. Recesses are formed integrally in or at the drip chamber to take up the drop sensor (26,28) the evaluation circuit, and the power source as this not only makes it possible to produce the infusion device at low cost but also permits the operator to have a look into the drip chamber, while the dripping rate is displayed optically at the same time. In a preferred modification there is complete control of the dripping rate by means of a control clamp (60) the flow cross section of which is adjustable by a drive means (64).

Abstract: A container of flexible material for receiving and apportionately discharging liquid through an outflow opening for the purpose of enteral feeding, has arranged therein a tube of hard material, the tube being connected at one of its ends to the outflow connection of the container and being provided at specified distances with notches serving as intended breaking points.

Abstract: Apparatus for dispensing nutritional substances enterically according to physiological requirements includes an electrically driven pump which has electronic controls to operate the pump at a fixed rotational speed either continuously or at intervals and wherein the operating and non-operating periods of the pump can be pre-selected.
