Abstract: A chromatographic process of DMF removal from an aqueous composition is described comprising its loading on a column of hydrophobic fixed bed adsorbent and eluting out DMF with an aqueous alkaline buffer. This method is useful to remove DMF as a process of general application wherever simultaneous removal and isolation of DMF is desired from an organic molecule which is not an organic solvent, is soluble in DMF. This method can be used for simultaneous removal of DMF from reaction mixtures and isolation of Trichlorogalactose (TGS) or TGS-6-acetate in a process of production of TGS.

  • Publication number: 20100190975
Abstract: A process is described for extractive isolation and purification of Trichlorogalactosucrose from impurities from a composition substantially free from N-N Dimethylformamide (DMF) comprising a first extractive separation by adjusting aqueous to a mixture of organic solvents in the composition to a certain ratio of aqueous to organic phase, extracting the aqueous layer of this step by a single organic solvent, followed by saturation of the aqueous layer by salt and ultimately extracting TGS in the organic layer.

  • Publication number: 20090324513
Abstract: Present invention relates to disclosure of application of some innovative techniques useful for substantially improving process efficiency of production of chlorinated sucrose including their intermediates and derivatives. Application of mild methods of drying has been made for recovery of chlorinated sucrose or their intermediates and derivatives, in substantially pure form or with other solid chemical impurities, obtained at various stages in the process of production of chlorinated sucrose. Mild methods of drying included agitated thin film drying, spray drying, freeze drying and super critical extraction. Use of alkoxides has been introduced for deacylation instead of alkali hydroxides or alkaline earth hydroxides. Deacylation has been shown to be effective both, either before or after drying of the reaction mixture. Extraction and purification of desired products i.e.

Abstract: A sweetener composition is described which augments full benefit of reduced calorific value associated through use of high intensity sweeteners as dominant sweetness contributors, and yet avoids problem of loss of favorable organoleptic properties associated with their use by incorporating sugars and other non-sugar low intensity sweeteners in small but an amount enough to provide a correction in organoleptic properties.

  • Publication number: 20090131653
Abstract: A process is described wherein after formation of first crop of Vilsmeier-Haack reagent by reacting Phosphorus Pentachloride with N,N-dimethylformamide to form a first crop of Vilsmeier reagent as insoluble crystals, a by-product of this reaction, the Phosphorus Oxy-Chloride, reacts with N,N-dimethylformamide to give a second crop of Vilsmeier reagent. This second crop of Vilsmeier reagent is soluble in DMF. This process makes it possible to double the yield of chlorinated substrate, such as sucrose-6-acetate or sucrose-6-benzoate, from the same quantity of Phosphorus Pentachloride.

  • Publication number: 20090030193
Abstract: A process of preparation of Vilsmeier-Haack reagent is provided where di(trichloromethyl) carbonate reacts with N,N-dimethylformamide to form a Vilsmeier reagent, which can be used efficiently for chlorination of sucrose-6-acetate or sucrose-6-benzoate and other sucrose acylates. This process has application in the process for preparation of 1-6-Dichloro-1-6-DIDEOXY-?-Fructofuranasyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-galactopyranoside.
