Patent number: 8010373Abstract: An encoding device (1) and method convert a set of signals (l, r) into a dominant signal (m) containing most signal energy, a residual signal (s) containing a remainder of the signal energy, and signal parameters (IID, ICC) associated with the conversion. The dominant signal (m) and selected parts of the residual signal (s) are encoded. Selecting parts of the residual signal involves a residual signal (s?) passing perceptually relevant parts of the residual signal (s), attenuating perceptually less relevant parts of the residual signal and suppressing least relevant parts of the residual signal. An associated decoding device (2) and method decode the encoded dominant signal and the encoded residual signal so as to produce a decoded dominant signal (m?u) and a decoded residual signal (s?mod) respectively. A synthetic residual signal (s?syn) is derived from the decoded dominant signal (m?u) and is attenuated so as to produce an attenuated synthetic residual signal (s?syn, mod).Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2010Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Francois Philippus Myburg, Dirk Jeroen Breebaart, Erik Gosuinus Petrus Schuijers

Publication number: 20110205749Abstract: It is provided a lamp, particularly halogen lamp, for a headlight of a motor vehicle, comprising a light source (12) for emitting mainly white light, a mainly transparent envelope (14) encapsulating the light source (12) and a filter element (22) provided at the envelope (14), wherein the filter element (22) is adapted for deflecting visible light of a predefined wavelength interval such, that mainly blue light can be provided above a bright/dark-cutoff (28). Since the deflected bluish light is above the bright/dark-cutoff (28) an oncoming driver recognizes earlier the light. At the same time the oncoming driver is not blinded by the blue light above the bright/dark-cutoff (28), since not the whole emitted light (40) but only a smaller wavelength interval is directed above the bright/dark-cutoff (28).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2009Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: Bernd Schoenfelder, Manfred Westemeyer, Klaus Schoeller, Kirsten G. Publication number: 20110208040Abstract: An imaging system includes a radiation source (110) that emits radiation that traverses an examination region and a detector (116) that detects radiation traversing the examination region and a subject disposed therein, and produces a signal indicative of the energy of the detected radiation. A data selector (122) energy discriminates the signal based on an energy spectra setting corresponding to first and second spectral characteristics of a contrast agent administered to the subject, wherein the contrast agent has a first attenuation spectral characteristic when attached to the target and a second different spectral characteristic when not attached to the target. A reconstructor (134) reconstructs the signal based on the first and second spectral characteristics and generates volumetric image data indicative of the target.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2009Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: Raz Carmi, Galit Sarit Kafri

WATERMARKED BASED PHYSICAL LAYER AUTHENTICATION METHOD OF TRANSMITTERS IN OFD COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS
Publication number: 20110206137Abstract: DVB-T2 is the next generation standard for the terrestrial digital broadcast. There is the request of identifying the transmitters in the Single Frequency Networks mainly for testing purposes. This might be achieved by embedding a watermark sequence in the transmitters to identify them uniquely. However, the transmitters can also be deployed in SFN so they have to transmit exactly the same data. Therefore, the watermark has to be added at the radio signal. It connot be added at content level as it happens in other standard as, for instance, in cellular systems. The invention proposes two possible new methods to watermark the transmitter ID in the DVB-T2 signal. In both cases we assign orthogonal pilot sequences to different transmitters. In one case the sequences are added at very low power to ensure no loss in the data rate. This is a very attractive alternative, but it might require a much more expensive receiver.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2009Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventor: Alessio Filippi -

Publication number: 20110208061Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system acquires a sequence of image data as a bolus of contrast agent washes into and out of a region of interest (ROI) which may contain a lesion. The image data of contrast intensity is used to compute a time-intensity curve at each point in the ROI. Levels of a time-intensity curve are set to define a rise rime period when contrast perfuses the ROI, an enhancement time period when a maximal amount of contrast is sustained in the ROI, and a fall time period when contrast washes out of the ROI. One or more of the time period parameters for the points in the ROI are used to form a parametric contrast image, which is used to identify a lesion in the ROI and its border.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2009Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventor: Jin Chang

Publication number: 20110207077Abstract: The cleaning apparatus includes a source of gas under pressure (12) and a source of fluid (14), along with associated gas (26) and fluid (34) chambers, adapted for successive single uses. A user-operated metered valve (22) connects the gas reservoir to the gas chamber, while a liquid pump (30) and a one-way valve (32) connects the liquid reservoir to the liquid chamber. When gas is released from the gas reservoir, it expands rapidly from the valve into the gas chamber, resulting in pressure therein sufficient to open a one-way valve (34) connecting the gas chamber to the liquid chamber. The gas in the liquid chamber forces liquid therein through a liquid line (15) to a connecting point with a gas stream line (13) from the gas chamber. The interaction of the fluid with the gas stream results in a spray of liquid droplets (17) which are directed out of the gas stream line exit orifice (16) to the teeth for cleaning.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2009Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Jozef Johannes Maria Janssen, Bart Gottenbos
