Abstract: An impact resistant battery incorporates one or more improvements that are designed to reduce or eliminate the risk of a fire or explosion caused by a projectile impact, electrical short, or otherwise. The battery is also designed to reduce the amount of structural damage caused by a projectile impact. The battery may have a housing that includes a self-sealing ionomer material. The battery may also be filled with materials that suppress flames and/or prevent the internal temperature from reaching an ignition point.
