  • Patent number: 12486725
Abstract: An apparatus and method of use for dampening shock and vibration imparted on a unified (e.g., single) and/or dual telemetry measurement-while-drilling (MWD) assembly by a drilling system during the drilling of a wellbore in a subterranean formation is provided. The apparatus may be configured to be threadably engaged and housed within the drilling system, wherein the apparatus reciprocates axially with the MWD assembly, dampening axial and torsional shock and vibration imparted on the assembly, while maintain mud-pulse and electromagnetic signals transmitted by the assembly.

  • Patent number: 12140023
Abstract: Systems and methods for adaptively receiving telemetry data are disclosed. In one example embodiment of a method, mud pulse telemetry data is transmitted from a downhole location. The transmitted data may be received at a plurality of transducers. Each of the transducers may be positioned at a different location of a drilling operation. The received data from the plurality of transducers may be processed simultaneously. The data which most likely corresponds to the transmitted mud pulse telemetry data may be selected and output. In some embodiments received data from the plurality of transducers is processed with a plurality of different decoding chains. Parameters of individual ones of the decoding chains and/or the number of decoding chains may be autonomously varied.

  • Patent number: 10704384
Abstract: A retrievable receiver for electromagnetic telemetry signals originating from a first wellbore is located in a second wellbore. The receiver uses a casing of the second wellbore as an antenna. A signal pickup unit is provided on a multi-conductor wireline in the second wellbore. The signal pickup provides sensors (e.g. electrodes) for detecting signals at plural locations along the second wellbore. Signal reception can be optimized by adjusting the position of the wireline in the second wellbore and/or selecting sensor(s) for use in receiving the telemetry signals. The receiver may lack any active electronics in the second wellbore.
