Patent number: 10433875Abstract: An orthopedic device has a configuration that employs a scalloped profile that defines internal scalloped edges having troughs and crests that extend substantially along the outer edge of a head of the device. The troughs and crests interface with a series of troughs and crests around the openings in the device. Each of the openings includes an outwardly extending slot that permits the opening to expand and contract outward as the head of the anchor is rotated. This enables an anti-backout feature that prevents or substantially inhibits undesired rotation and backout.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2016Date of Patent: October 8, 2019Assignee: Phygen, LLCInventor: Laszlo Garamszegi

Patent number: 9387016Abstract: Disclosed is a device that is configured to be implanted adjacent interspinous processes of a patient. In one aspect, a spinal implant device comprises: a spacer region adapted to be positioned between first and second spinous processes of first and second vertebral bodies to limit movement of the first spinous process and the second spinous process toward one another; and an attachment region attached to the spacer region, the attachment region adapted to attach to the first spinous process via a fastener, the attachment region comprising a pair of pads having attachment elements that are configured to attach onto the spinous process.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2013Date of Patent: July 12, 2016Assignee: PHYGEN, LLCInventors: Bryan Okamoto, Laszlo Garamszegi

Patent number: 8273112Abstract: Disclosed are spinal fusion assemblies for use in skeletal systems. The assembly includes a coupling element that can be coupled to a fixation element, such as, for example, a screw with a head that removably mates with the coupling element. The coupling element and fixation element are configured to be coupled to an elongate stabilizer, such as a rod, that is positioned between a top and a bottom saddle. A compression member, such as a compression nut, is configured to mate with the coupling element and provides a compressive force to the top and bottom saddles to secure the elongate stabilizer therebetween. The top and bottom saddles are movably positioned within the coupling element such that they can gradually reposition and self-align into a secure engagement with the stabilizer as the compression member provides the compressive force.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2010Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Phygen, LLCInventors: Laszlo Garamszegi, John Carlisle Brown, Souhail Toubia

Patent number: 8192438Abstract: A rod reducer is adapted for inserting a rod into position within an orthopedic device. The rod reducer is configured for use with one hand and does not obstruct the surgeon's view of the surgical field during use.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2007Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Phygen, LLC.Inventor: Laszlo Garamszegi

Patent number: 8137387Abstract: A bone stabilizer assembly includes a fixation element, a coupling element, and a compression nut. The fixation element is adapted to engage a bone and having a head portion and shank portion. The coupling element has an internal bore sized to receive the shank portion of the fixation element and a pyramid-shaped seat for supporting the head portion of the fixation element. The coupling element is adapted to receive a stabilizer rod. The compression nut is engagable with the coupling element and is adapted to rotatingly move distally into the coupling element to translate a force to the head portion through the rod and the saddle such that the head portion is forced against the seat of the coupling element to prevent relative movement between the fixation element and the coupling element.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2007Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Phygen, LLC.Inventor: Laszlo Garamszegi

Patent number: 7880887Abstract: Accurate measurements of the concentration of a sterilant in a sterilization chamber are provided through the use of a light source, a first detector that receives light from the light source that has not passed through the sterilization chamber and a detector that receives light from the light source that has passed through the sterilization chamber. The light contains wavelengths known to be absorbed by the sterilant. A controller receives and processes signals received from the two detectors to cancel changes in the output of the light source and then apply a modified Beer-Lambert law to determine the concentration of the sterilant gas.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2008Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: Phygen, Inc.Inventors: Steven J. Olson, Jami McLaren, Steven K. Isvik

Publication number: 20100163448Abstract: A container is provided for holding a chemical compound or mixture. Areas are provided on the surface of the container which allow for gaseous by-products from the chemical contained within the container to permeate from a chamber through the surface of the container. A septum is over-molded into the surface of the container. The septum is formed in such a manner that it provides a sealing effect to close an opening in the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2008Publication date: July 1, 2010Applicant: PHYGEN, INC., d/b/a Sterilucent, Inc.Inventor: Patrick LaValley

Patent number: 6113851Abstract: An apparatus and process for accomplishing low-temperature sterilization in a plasma generated using a variety of gas molecules. The plasma is generated using a hollow cathode discharge device of design that permits the device to be of commercially practical size and provides for the generation of moderate but extremely consistent plasma density throughout the chamber, thereby assuring sterilization of all items placed therein.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1997Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: PhygenInventors: Igor A. Patent number: 6103074Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for enhancement of the stream of plasma particles created by the process of cathode arc vapor deposition. The apparatus is designed to control through trapping the plasma particles generated from a sacrificial cathode plasma source and focus the plasma particle stream to collide with and deposit upon the substrate to be coated. The apparatus includes a magnetic field generator for generating a magnetic field of a distinctive cusp shape. The anode is insulated from the chamber to strengthen and sharpen the electric field potential created in the chamber. This stronger, sharper electric field potential is contoured to create an electron trap having an aperture through which the plasma ions are directed at the substrate to be coated. The specific configuration described directs the plasma particles efficiently in that the plasma deposition rate is higher per unit of magnetic field strength than can be obtained with other commercial designs.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Phygen, Inc.Inventor: Viktor N.
