Abstract: A plasma display panel comprises a front glass substrate 1 and a back glass substrate 4. A plurality of row electrode pairs (X, Y) regularly arranged in a column direction, each extending in a row direction to form a display line, and a dielectric layer 2 covering the row electrode pairs (X, Y) are provided on an inner surface of the substrate 1. A plurality of column electrodes D are provided on an inner surface of the substrate 4, and regularly arranged in the row direction, each extending in the column direction to intersect with the row electrode pairs (X, Y) to form discharge cells C in a discharge space at the intersections. A recess groove 12a is formed in a portion of the dielectric layer 2 opposite a discharge gap g between paired row electrodes X and Y constituting the row electrode pair (X, Y), so that the dielectric layer 2 has a thickness in the portion opposite the discharge gap g smaller than that in portions on both sides of the portion opposite the discharge gap g.

Abstract: Provision of a manufacturing method for forming lamination of a plurality of dielectric layers on a substrate of a plasma display panel. A forming process for forming a photosensitive glass material layer and a patterning process for exposing required regions of the resulting photosensitive glass material layer to light are repeated in each formation of a first photosensitive glass material layer L1 and a second photosensitive glass material layer L2. After completion of the individual forming process and the individual patterning process for each of the first and second photosensitive glass material layers L1 and L2, a developing process for removing the unexposed regions and a burning process following the developing process are each performed on both of the first and second photosensitive glass material layers L1 and L2 together.

Abstract: In a manufacturing process for a plasma display panel, a protective layer 3 formed of MgO is placed in a non-display area of a display space in which introduction of a discharge gas is provided, so as to face the discharge space. Bus electrodes Xb and Yb of row electrodes X and Y are increased in length to continue extending from inside a display area of the plasma display panel into the non-display area, and thus constitute a pair of discharge electrode for causing a discharge in the non-display area of the discharge space in which the introduction of the discharge gas is provided. When the discharge gas is introduced into the discharge gas, a voltage is applied between the discharge electrodes to cause an aging discharge.

Abstract: The present invention intends to provide a display position control apparatus which can prevent a position control signal to control a display position of an image from being unstable and can display the image with high image quality. A delay signal having a phase difference in a match state with reference to a vertical sync signal is generated. Whether a phase relation between the vertical sync signal and a horizontal sync signal is in a mismatch state is detected. When it is detected that the phase relation is in the mismatch state, a display position control signal is generated on the basis of the vertical sync signal and the delay signal. When it is not detected that the phase relation is in the mismatch state, the display position control signal is generated on the basis of the vertical sync signal and the horizontal sync signal.
