Maize event DP-098140-6 and compositions and methods for the identification and/or detection thereof
Patent number: 7897846Abstract: Compositions and methods related to transgenic glyphosate/ALS inhibitor-tolerant maize plants are provided. Specifically, the present invention provides maize plants having a DP-098140-6 event which imparts tolerance to glyphosate and at least one ALS-inhibiting herbicide. The maize plant harboring the DP-098140-6 event at the recited chromosomal location comprises genomic/transgene junctions having at least the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5 and/or 6. The characterization of the genomic insertion site of the DP-098140-6 event provides for an enhanced breeding efficiency and enables the use of molecular markers to track the transgene insert in the breeding populations and progeny thereof. Various methods and compositions for the identification, detection, and use of the maize DP-098140-6 events are provided. Methods and compositions for improving yield are further provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2008Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Assignees: Pioneer Hi-Bred Int'l, Inc., E.I. duPont de Nemours and Co.Inventors: Timothy K. Compositions and methods to stack multiple nucleotide sequences of interest in the genome of a plant
Patent number: 7820880Abstract: Methods and compositions for the stacking of multiple nucleotide sequences at precise locations in the genome of a plant or plant cell are provided. Specifically, transfer cassettes comprising nucleotide sequences of interest flanked by non-identical recombination sites are introduced into a plant comprising a target site. The target site contains at least a set of non-identical recombination sites corresponding to those on the transfer cassette. Exchange of the nucleotide sequences flanked by the recombination sites is effected by a recombinase. The transfer cassettes and target sites are designed so as to allow for the stacking or ordering of nucleotide sequences at precise locations in the plant genome.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2008Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: Pioneer Hi-Bred Int'l.
