Abstract: A novel maize variety designated PH4D3C and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant comprise crossing maize variety PH4D3C with another maize plant are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH4D3C through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are provided. Hybrid maize seed, plants or plant parts are produced by crossing the variety PH4D3C or a locus conversion of PH4D3C with another maize variety.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided which permit extraction of a monocot embryo (e.g., a corn embryo) of a monocot seed (e.g., a corn kernel) without damage to the monocot embryo. Methods disclosed herein provide embryos for uses in plant breeding and research procedures.
