Patent number: 6079095Abstract: A method for installing a flange on the end of a tubular member lined with a thermoplastic liner is provided. The flange is formed with a groove having extrusion openings extending from the front to the rear surface of the flange, the groove for receiving the reformed end of the liner which is forced into the extrusion openings and extends above the front surface of the flange to provide a surface for securing with a corresponding flange.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1997Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: James S. McMillan, Simon Tarsha

Patent number: 5645784Abstract: A method and apparatus are shown for lining a tubular member with an elastomeric liner having an outside diameter which is initially greater than the inside diameter of the tubular member. A series of downsizing rollers reduce the outside diameter of the liner a preselected amount. A series of shaping rollers form the downsized liner into an ellipse, thereby allowing the downsized liner to be guided around bends and turns into the interior of the tubular member. After insertion, the liner is allowed to expand to substantially its original outside diameter to secure the liner within the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1994Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: Jim S. McMillan, Simon Tarsha

Patent number: 5626801Abstract: A method is shown for lining a host pipe with a polyolefin liner having an outside diameter which is initially greater than the inside diameter of the host pipe. A length of the liner is cryogenically cooled to a supercooled state to reduce the outside diameter of the liner and to maintain the downsized dimensions of the liner while increasing the tensile strength to facilitate insertion of the liner into the host pipe.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1994Date of Patent: May 6, 1997Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: Jim S. McMillan, Simon Tarsha

Patent number: 5462706Abstract: A method is shown for forming a flange on an end of a plastic pipe liner of the type used to line a tubular member. A preformed synthetic disc is installed on the end of the synthetic liner which extends from the tubular member. The exposed end of synthetic liner is surrounded with a forming unit which includes a heating unit and an associated forming mandrel. The heating unit is extended to heat the junction between the preformed disc and exposed end of the liner to form a weld area between the two. The forming mandrel is then extended to compress the molten weld area between the liner and disc. The remaining exposed material is removed to form a finished surface coplanar with the face of the synthetic disc.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1993Date of Patent: October 31, 1995Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: James S. Patent number: 5244505Abstract: An apparatus is shown for cleaning a pipe. The apparatus includes a rigid stem and a motor stationarily mounted on the stem. An outer body surrounds the motor and is rotatably mounted on the rigid stem. A fluid conduit is connected to the stem and to a source of fluid under pressure for supplying fluid to the motor for driving the motor. The fluid conduit also connected to a pulling unit for pulling the apparatus through the pipe to be cleaned. Fluid supplied through the fluid conduit to the stem and through the stem to the fluid powered motor provides rotational propulsion to turn the outer body as the apparatus is moved through the pipe to be cleaned.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1992Date of Patent: September 14, 1993Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: Arlie Allison, Simon Tarsha, James S. Patent number: 5199145Abstract: A corporate stop is shown for sealing an opening in the sidewall of a host pipe. The stop has a threaded stem with an enlarged head portion and a neck portion of reduced size. A flexible sleeve member is received about the neck portion of the stem and has an upper end and a lower end which accommodates the enlarged head portion of the stem. A compression washer has an upper side and a lower side which fits about the sidewall of the conduit. The washer also has an opening which is alignable with an opening provided in the sidewall of the conduit. The lower side of the washer has a recess for receiving the upper end of the sleeve member when the stop is installed on the conduit performing an external seal with respect to the conduit. A clamp nut is engageable with the neck portion of the threaded stem for forcibly moving the lower end of the sleeve member over the head portion of the stem to expand the lower end of the sleeve member and form an internal seal with an opening in the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1991Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Assignee: Pipe Rehab International, Inc.Inventors: Jim S.
