  • Patent number: 4949770
Abstract: The invention relates to a breaker belt structure to be used in pneumatic tires, in particular in those of the radial carcass type. The structure comprises a radially outer strip of circumferentially arranged cords (61), preferably but not exclusively made of textile material, as polyamide or aromatic polyamide, and two felted layers (62), (63), situated in a radially inner position, which comprise an elastomeric or plastomeric supporting material and a reinforcing filler of aramide pulp oriented along a preferred direction which is inclined with respect to the circumferential direction, the preferred directions of orientation in the two felted layers being preferably inclined symmetrically to each other at an angle of 45.degree. with respect to said circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 4945967
Abstract: A tire with a radial carcass having a breaker structure that comprises two radially overlapped layers of metallic fabric reinforced by cords transversely disposed with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire. These cords are crossed over each other and, on each axial extremity of the two layers, there is positioned at least a rubberized fabric strip reinforced by metallic cords of high elongation (HE) or very high elongation (VHE) in combination with Hybrid textile cords (Aramide/Polyamide) disposed in the circumferential direction and having, in the vulcanized tire, a modulus of elongation of non-increasing value passing from the axially outermost cord to the axially innermost one. This strip is suitably constructed by the coupling of cords of (axially from the outside to the inside) HE-VHE (High Elongation--Very High Elongation), HE-Hybrid (High Elongation--Aramide/Polyamide) and VHE-Hybrid.

  • Patent number: 4911991
Abstract: This invention relates to metal wire used to produce reinforcing elements for articles of elastomeric material. The wire is provided with a coating ensuring at the same time a good resistance to corrosion, good values of initial adhesion, and a low decay, due to ageing, of the bond with the elastomeric material, said coating being constituted by two concentric layers of a Zn/Ni alloy, where the radially inner layer contains Zn in an amount ranging between 60% and 90% based on total layer and the radially outer layer contains Ni in an amount ranging between 60% and 80% based on the total layer.

  • Patent number: 4883415
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vulcanizing mold for elastomeric or plastomeric to toroidal articles, comprising, a first cheek and a second cheek being axially opposed to each other, the first cheek and the second cheek delimit the flanks of an article to be molded; and, a crown of radially contractile and expansible sectors interposed between the first cheek and the second cheek which delimit a radially outer surface of the article to be molded, the sectors comprising two connected pieces wherein a first connected piece is a matrix that has a radially inner surface substantially corresponding to a portion of the crown surface of the article to be molded, and a second connecting piece which is a support for the matrix that has a radially outer surface inclined with respect to an axis of the mold, the support having means for solidly locking the matrix onto the support and the matrix being freely movable with respect to a corresponding support in at least the axial direction along the coupling surface betw

  • Patent number: 4872822
Abstract: To obtain and expedite an automatic engagement and disengagement of the bladder with respect to the relative operating mechanism, in particular in presses used for curing pneumatic tires, the movable clamp and the fixed clamp, respectively, which block the beads of the flexible, elastically deformable sleeve constituting the bladder, comprise annular grooves, coaxial with the axis of the bladder, which, in operation interact with the heads of a plurality of pegs situated in the head to be assembled to the movable clamp and in the body of the support to be associated to the fixed clamp, the pegs being radially movable in both senses between two positions, i.e. a work position in the operating condition and a rest position in which said pegs are completely collapsed into the body of said head and of the support so as to allow the axial insertion of the bladder on the mechanism and its removal therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4867823
Abstract: For the purpose of carrying out the butt-end joining of two lengths of a rubberized fabric, particularly reinforced with cords disposed parallel at the edges to be joined, there is provided a stitching device which comprises two superimposed pairs of frusto-conical rollers, having their lateral surfaces tangent to a horizontal plane, and with opposing pairs of rollers to a vertical plane, their axes of rotation being symmetrically inclined with respect to the tern of planes comprised of a first horizontal plane, or the resting plane for the lengths to be joined, a second vertical plane that contains the seam-line of the lengths, and a third vertical plane, orthogonal to both the two above horizontal and vertical planes.Owing to the inclination of the axes, the pairs of vertically opposite rollers grasp each border of the length to be joined, on both of the surfaces, in correspondence with a narrow transverse portion of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 4848429
Abstract: The present invention concerns a tire for vehicle wheels, intended for being used for sports events and for high performance, that is capable of guaranteeing, under any running conditions--of time, as well as of the road, the best road-behaviour characteristics. The tire of the invention presents a tread pattern that is axially subdivided into two circumferential adjacent sections--of blocks and grooves respectively, and a tread-band--comprised by two circumferential portions that are axially adjacent--made from diverse elastomeric compositions and having a diverse thickness, where the line of separation--between the two sections of the pattern, does not coincide with the line of separation between the two portions made of elastomeric compositions. The said tread-band, is supported by a mixed textile/metallic breaker structure, having an asymmetrical profile--with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4802520
Abstract: The invention concerns a tire, especially suited for motorcycles, that is capable of high performances during racing competitions, due to the high rigidity of the tire-sidewall which permits considerable increase in speed when cornering. The said tire presents, in correspondence of the radially inner portion of the sidewall and in a straight section, the profile of the carcass plies and of the axially inner surface, concave inwardly, together with the profile of the axially outer surface, concave outwardly.
