Abstract: A tyre includes at least one structural element obtained by crosslinking a crosslinkable elastomeric composition including: (a) a crosslinkable elastomeric base comprising at least 10 phr, preferably from 30 phr to 100 phr, of (a1) at least one epoxidized elastomeric polymer including less than 10 mol %, preferably from 0.1 mol % to 5 mol %, of epoxy groups relative to the total number of moles of monomers present in the elastomeric polymer; and (b) from 2 phr to 50 phr, preferably from 5 phr to 30 phr, of at least one layered material. Preferably, the at least one structural element is selected from bead filler, sidewall insert, tread underlayer, and tread base.

  • Publication number: 20070175561
Abstract: A pneumatic tyre includes a pair of axially-spaced-apart annular reinforcing elements and bead fillers, a carcass structure, at least one flipper, a tread band, a belt structure, and at least one pair of sidewalls. The carcass structure includes at least one carcass ply, extends between the annular reinforcing elements, and is secured at axially opposite end portions to respective annular reinforcing elements. Each end portion is turned up around the respective annular reinforcing element. Each bead filler is disposed radially outward of the respective annular reinforcing element. The at least one flipper at least partially envelops an associated annular reinforcing element and bead filler and includes a plurality of first elongated reinforcing elements that are substantially parallel to each other. The first elongated reinforcing elements include at least one preformed metallic element having a diameter greater than or equal to 0.05 mm and less than or equal to 0.25 mm.

  • Patent number: 7138750
Abstract: A system for generating electrical energy in a tire for a vehicle includes at least one coaxial piezoelectric cable that generates electrical energy when deformed. The at least one coaxial piezoelectric cable is associated with the tire. And the at least one coaxial piezoelectric cable extends along at least a portion of the tire. A tire for a vehicle includes a carcass, a tread, and the at least one coaxial piezoelectric cable.

  • Patent number: 6956466
Abstract: An anti-theft device for a vehicle with tyre wheels includes an immobilization device, at least one detection control unit, and at least one sensor. The immobilization device activates an anti-theft procedure. The at least one detection control unit is connected to the immobilization device and verifies an alarm condition. The at least one sensor is associated with one or more of the tyre wheels, communicates with the at least one detection control unit, detects movement of one or more of the tyre wheels, and detects inflation pressure of one or more of the tyre wheels. A method for activating an anti-theft device for a vehicle with tyre wheels includes detecting an alarm condition from at least one of the tyre wheels, receiving the detected condition, and activating an anti-theft procedure.
