  • Patent number: 6161647
Abstract: A fall arresting ladder safety device for attachment to a fixed ladder side rail. The fall arresting device is to be used in conjunction with a body harness worn by the climber with a lanyard attached at one end to the body harness and the other end attached to the fall arresting device. The fall arresting device includes first and second arms pivotally connected in an X-configuration with each arm having first and second ladder side rail engaging portions disposed on opposite edges of the ladder side rail. A spring operably attached to the first and second arms biases the first and second arms between a fall arresting position and a climbing position. To ascend or descend the ladder, the handle portion of the first arm is pivoted upward to disengage the ladder side rail engaging portions of the first arm so that the device can be rolled up or down the ladder side rail as the climber ascends or descends the ladder.

  • Patent number: 5243893
Abstract: A mechanism for positioning a cutting and punching machine relative to a fixed conveyor for feeding material to be processed in a fixed horizontal route into the machine. The positioning mechanism comprises a carriage which supports the machine for back and forth movement laterally of the horizontal feeding route, which carriage is supported in turn on a support providing tracks for lateral movement of the carriage, with the support mounted within a lined pit. A drive unit is mounted on the machine for effecting lateral movement of the carriage, and a second drive unit is mounted within the lined pit below the support for moving the support vertically within the pit.

  • Patent number: 5131201
Abstract: A composite elevated storage tank is constructed utilizing precast concrete panels for a pedestal which supports a steel storage tank. The precast concrete panels are poured in a controlled environment not subject to the difficulties inherent with sitecast concrete construction. A simple and practical method of attaching the panels to each other as well as to the foundation and steel tank ensures the concrete pedestal behaves as a shell to sustain all loads. This method, which uses cast in plates welded together at vertical joints and vertical aligned threaded rods for horizontal joints, serves to reduce the length of time required to construct a composite elevated tank and also reduces the construction costs.
