    Abstract: A system and method for dynamically multiplexing multiple streams of packet data within a digital transmission media such as a T-1, E-1 or digital subscriber line (DSL). The approach allows such multiplexed packet streams to co-exist with voice transmitted via conventional time division multiplex (TDM) techniques. The approach also uses TDM bandwidth for packet data transmission when TDM voice channels are not in use.
