Abstract: A flat display screen includes a cathode (1) with microtips (2) for the electron bombardment of the anode (5) having phosphor elements (7r, 7g, 7b), the cathode (1) and the anode (5) separated by a vacuum space (12) containing a progressive hydrogen release source comprised of a thin layer of hydrogenated material. The progressive hydrogen release source may comprise a resistive layer (11) of the cathode (1) on which the microtips (2) are arranged. The progressive hydrogen release source provides the microtips (2) with a substantially constant emitting power.

Abstract: A method for controlling a cathodoluminescent screen consists of providing regeneration steps during which at least a portion of the anodes is at a low voltage and the corresponding cathodes are biased to an emission state. When the screen is a microtip color screen, regeneration steps are provided between the operation steps and, during the regeneration steps, all the anodes are at a low voltage, the microtips and the gates being biased to an emission state.

Abstract: A flat display screen includes two electrodes separated by an inner space. At least one first electrode is supported by a thin substrate and by a thick rigidifying plate, the inner space being defined by a peripheral frame placed between the electrodes, outside their useful surface.
Abstract: A method of fabricating an anode of a flat display screen that includes at least three series of alternated parallel strips of anode conductors is available. For each series of anode conductor strips, there is a single electrically connection pad, each pad being accessible through conductive paths from a same surface level of the anode.
Abstract: A flat display screen has a cathode including microtips for electronic bombardment associated with a gate, an anode including phosphor elements, and an inter-electrode gap. The screen includes an apertured insulating plate defining the inter-electrode gap associated with means for maintaining the plate apart from the anode.
Abstract: An anode (5) for a flat display screen includes at least one group of phosphor strips (7) deposited over corresponding electrode strips (17) separated one from another by an insulating layer (8) etched out in front of the phosphor strips (7), and at least one conductor (21) interconnecting the electrode strips (17) of the group of phosphor strips (7). Each of the electrode strips (17) is formed by a resistive strip (18) for receiving one phosphor strip (7) and at least one biasing strip (19) which is parallel to and joins the interconnecting conductor (21). The biasing strip (19) has a low resistivity with respect to the resistivity of the associated resistive strip (18). The biasing strip (19) is parallel to, laterally borders, and is in contacting engagement with the resistive strip (18). The anode (5) eliminates the risk of electrical arcs between the anode (5) and gate (3) or between adjacent phosphor strips (7) of the anode (5), without impairing the brightness of the screen.

Abstract: A flat display screen includes a cathode arranged in columns for electronically bombarding an anode including phosphor elements, a first gate arranged in rows to be individually addressed, and a second gate formed by at least two combs of alternate paths parallel with the rows of the first gate. A same row of the first gate is associated with a path of each comb and the interconnection of each path with a cathode column defines a screen pixel.
Abstract: An anode for flat display screens, of the type including at least one set of phosphor strips disposed over corresponding conductive strips and at least one interconnection conductor for the phosphor strips. Each conductive strip of each set is connected through a resistor to the associated interconnection conductor.
Abstract: A flat vacuum without pumping stem, for the manufacturing of display screens, comprises two plates made of glass, a sealing peripheral joint interrupted so as to provide an aperture for evacuation of the gases during manufacturing, a thin-film metallic pad disposed on each inner surface of the glass plates at the level of the aperture, and a sealing element made of metal having a low melting point disposed so as to contact the metallic pads.
