Patents Assigned to Placon Corporation
  • Patent number: 11745925
Abstract: A disposable package is configured to promote recycling of its component parts. A thermoformed thermoplastic blister has front and back product bubbles which extend from a peripheral flange and are hinged together to be folded into a product compartment such that the product bubbles extend through openings in front and back cards. The front card is affixed to the back card to close the product bubble and so as not to adhere to the blister flanges. A front extraction tab extends from the peripheral flange and is accessible on two opposed sides for gripping by a user to engage and remove the blister from the front card and the back card.

  • Patent number: 11535428
Abstract: A tamper-evident container has a lid with a rim with a bead mating with a groove in a base rim. The rim bead is interrupted by a tab wall which does not engage the base. The lid has a first flange portion which overlies a base flange. The base and lid first flange portions extend outwardly about the same amount. At the tab, a second portion of the lid flange extends substantially outwardly beyond the base flange. The flange second portion is connected to the first portion on both sides of the tab by weakened lines of material which extend cut lines through the tab front wall. The tab second flange portion is engageable to sever the weakened lines of material and pivot the tab upwardly to remove the lid, thus deforming it and evidencing tampering should the lid be replaced on the base. Base vents reduce ballooning when closed.

A thermoformed thermoplastic blister has a product bubble which extends from a peripheral flange to extend through an opening in a front card. The front card is affixed to a back card so as not to adhere to the blister flange. An extraction tab extends from the peripheral flange above the front card, the extraction tab having a grip segment which is held spaced from the front card by a structure extending from the grip segment which engages the front card, so the grip segment is accessible on two opposed sides for gripping by a user to engage and remove the blister from the front card and the back card.

  • Patent number: 10479580
Abstract: A method for separating a package blister from the cards which retain it to promote recycling of the component parts of a package. A thermoformed thermoplastic blister has a product bubble which extends from a peripheral flange to extend through an opening in a front card. The front card is affixed to a back card so as not to adhere to the blister flange. The blister has a pull feature which is accessible for gripping by a user to engage and remove the blister from the front card and the back card. To separate the blister from the cards a user grips the pull feature and pulls the blister frontwardly, thereby distorting the blister and extracting the blister from the cards, to fully separate the blister from the front card and the back card, permitting the entire package to be recycled.

  • Patent number: 10308394
Abstract: A system of containers forming a group of two and three containers, where one and two smaller containers can be positioned on a lid of a larger container so as to prevent sliding motion of the smaller containers. Each of the smaller containers having a bottom wall of substantially the same dimensions with a portion of the bottom wall forming an upwardly extending indentation. The small containers are formed with upwardly opening walls and have lids releasably engageable with the bottom. The larger container lid having a flat upper surface which is sized to hold at least two of the smaller containers, and having structures to position one, and to position two smaller containers against sliding movement on said flat upper surface such that whether one container or two containers, the smaller containers are balanced about a central axis of the larger container and lid.

  • Patent number: 9676527
Abstract: A clamshell container has a lid connected to a base by an integral hinge. The lid has a perimeter projecting member which engages with a peripheral base sealing wall in a closed configuration so that it is difficult for a user to open the container without tearing the lid along a weakened region of material along the hinge. To aid in resisting undetectable tampering, the container has a post which projects from the side wall and extends less than the length of the side wall within the container. The post has an engaging wall which faces towards a base sealing wall and which is spaced from the sealing wall to define a gap which receives the closed lid's projecting member. Distortion of the closed container which tends to urge the lid projecting member away from the base sealing wall engages it with the post engaging wall to resist tampering.

  • Patent number: 9352886
Abstract: A container has features to indicate tampering and to discourage reuse as a deterrent to use with counterfeit goods. A lid hinged to a thermoformed thermoplastic base defines a product compartment. A line of weakened material surrounds a retention tab within a base upper wall. The tab is secured to a lid upper wall such as by a weld. The retention tab is secured to the lid through an opening in an enclosure element such as a card of thermoformed sheet. When the lid is separated from the base the retention tab is detached from the base along the weakened line of material and retained by the secured connection to the lid with the enclosure element retained by the retention tab to the lid upper wall. The retention tab interferes with the removal of the enclosure element from the lid and its reuse with counterfeit goods.
