    Abstract: A lid construction for a container, canister (can), or the like, includes a top piece and a skirt piece. The top and skirt pieces are connected together using a folded and crimped joint that is located primarily on the inside of the lid adjacent to the inner surface of the skirt and generally below the top surface of the lid, providing a substantially flush and flat upper surface and a substantially flush and flat side surface of the lid at the location of the joint.
