  • Patent number: 4623195
Abstract: A draftsman's chair having a footrest adjustable vertically along a support column for the chair; the footrest having a sleeve hub slidable on the column wherein a retaining device comprising a pair of interconnected spaced rings receives the sleeve hub there between and an interconnecting member provides a threaded hole for an adjustable knob having a shaft with an end face adapted to bear against the sleeve hub and to cause lateral displacement of the spaced rings to provide oppositely directed pressure contact against the support column to firmly position and retain the footrest at a selected position.

  • Patent number: 4586440
Abstract: An apparatus for counterbalancing a luminaire pivotally mounted on a drafting board which is adapted to be inclined to a selected working position from approximately 0 degrees to 90 degrees in which the luminaire is provided with support members pivotally mounted on the board and first and second friction control devices are cooperable with the pivotal mounting to provide necessary counterbalancing forces in selected positions of the luminaire. The second control device is activated by a gravity responsive latch when the board is inclined beyond a selected angle of inclination to augment the counterbalancing forces where the gravity moment arm of the luminaire enters a maximum range.

  • Patent number: 4508305
Abstract: A locking device for infinitely varying the inclination of a drawing board mounted about a hinge axis along one edge of a base or table structure between a maximum tilt angle and a minimum angle such as horizontal in which a rod is pivotally connected at one end to a drawing board and extends downwardly alongside the base structure, a lock member is pivotally mounted on the base structure and has a plate portion having a hole therein to receive said rod, said hole having a configuration providing frictional contact with said rod surface in relative angular positions of the rod as determined by the inclination of the drawing board and by the pivotal movement of the lock member, the configuration of the hole maximizing such frictional contact, and a magnet on the base structure cooperable with said lock member to hold the lock member in release position with respect to the rod, the lock member being automatically disengaged from said magnet in one position of the drawing board.

  • Patent number: 4418378
Abstract: A light box having one or more fluorescent light source tubes provided with light diffusing and mixing members of tubular form for modifying the light emitted by the fluorescent light tubes to provide a substantially uniformly illuminated backlighted work surface for use in tracing, stripping art work, and viewing color slides, photo negatives, and X-rays. The light box includes internal coated reflective surfaces on bottom and side walls. The light diffusing and mixing member includes light reflective interior and exterior coatings, shaped end portions and in one example perforations providing light transmitting openings. A light diffusing and mixing member of selected light translucent material having shaped end portions and arranged in accordance with the intensity of light emanating from the tubular fluorescent light source.

  • Patent number: 4383375
Abstract: A drafting apparatus for use with a drawing board having a side edge portion and a planar drawing surface in which a guide track extends in spaced relation to the side edge of the board and is mounted from the board for adjustment into several different positions in relation to the board. A T-square having a head body member provided with wheels for rolling engagement with the guide track and carrying a strip of material serving as an armature for coaction with a pair of spaced magnets carried by the head member of the T-square. The magnets are carried on a bar member provided with pivotal movement about a longitudinal horizontal pivot axis parallel to the side edge of the board, the magnet carrying bar member having an actuator portion for releasing the magnets from the armature strip. A slidable lock element is carried by the actuator portion to lock the magnet carrying bar member in release position if desired.

  • Patent number: 4303284
Abstract: A multipositionable index file guide means adapted to be supported from laterally spaced support means for vertical filing of sheet material. In one example, the multipositionable index guide comprises a strip element having a longitudinal axis and longitudinal edge portions, each edge portion having a tab extending laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis and longitudinally offset with respect to the tab on the opposite edge portion. The strip element may be turned about its longitudinal axis for obtaining two tab upward positions in offset relation and may be turned about its lateral axis for obtaining a third upward position of one of said tabs. In another example, the index guide strip element includes a tab extending laterally from each longitudinal edge portion and in longitudinal offset relation, the strip element being adapted to be turned about its longitudinal axis to locate a tab in one of two upward positions.

  • Patent number: 4155607
Abstract: A filing system for supporting material to be filed in vertical zones, such material being single sheet material, multiple sheet material held in a binder, vertically arranged horizontally extending pockets or compartments of single or multiple form. A support bar is positioned transversely of the vertical filing zones and supported at opposite ends, the support bar having a longitudinally extending web in a vertical plane normal to said vertical zone and having dihedrally disposed flanges extending from said web along its length in opposite directions. The flanges are shaped to provide upwardly facing bearing contact areas and downwardly facing bearing contact areas spaced from the vertical plane, each downwardly facing contact area being located to be cooperable with an upwardly facing contact area on the opposite side of the vertical plane to provide a set of bearing contact areas for supporting a suspension means connected to the material to be filed.

  • Patent number: 3994547
Abstract: A single point suspension device for filing sheet material in parallel vertical planes within or without a cabinet construction in which a horizontal support bar has a sidewardly opening longitudinal recess defined in part by a sidewardly extending hook and in which is received a suspension member attached to upper edge margins of sheet material to be filed. The suspension member includes a sidewardly directed recess defined in part by a hook, the hooks and recesses of the suspension member and the support bar being correspondingly configured for substantially complete interlocking interengagement along correspondingly configured surfaces and whereby the interengagement is accomplished with relative horizontal movement of the bar and suspension member, and wherein the interlocking engagement restricts angular relative movement of the support bar and suspension member.
