  • Patent number: 6662944
Abstract: A firearm carrying case includes a rigid outer housing and a flexible inner shell and pockets defined between the flexible inner shell and the outer housing. The outer housing includes a body having a contoured wall with an engagement portion, a chamber, and an open end. The open end is defined in a first plane. The outer housing also includes an end cap having a contoured wall an engagement portion, a chamber, and an open end. The end cap open end is defined in a second plane such that when the body and end cap are interconnected, an interior cavity is defined. The engagement portions interengage along a line of separation disposed oblique to the longitudinal axis, such that disconnection of the end cap from the body is easier. The flexible inner shell includes a soft wall defining an opening and an interior cavity for receiving the firearm. The inner shell is selectively, cooperatively and slidingly received within the chambers.
