Patents Assigned to Plant Biosciences Limited
  • Patent number: 6265637
Abstract: A flowering characteristic of a plant, particularly the timing of flowering, is controlled by the expression of the Late Elongated Hypocotyl (LHY) gene of Arabidopsis thaliana or a mutant, variant, allele, derivative, or homologue thereof. Over-expression may be used to delay flowering in a transgenic plant. The promoter of the gene regulates transcription in accordance with the circadian rhythm and may be used to control expression of genes whose products are only required or desired at certain times of the day.

  • Patent number: 6225527
Abstract: The tomato Cf-4 gene has been isolated by positional cloning and its sequence provided, along with the encoded amino acid sequence. DNA encoding the polypeptide, alleles, mutants and derivatives thereof, and DNA encoding amino acid sequences showing a significant degree of homology thereto may be introduced into plant cells and the encoded polypeptide expressed, conferring pathogen resistance on plants comprising such cells and descendants thereof. The Cf-4 sequence shows a high degree of homology to Cf-9 and comprises leucine rich repeats.

  • Patent number: 6225532
Abstract: The tomato Cf-5 gene has been cloned and its sequence provided, along with the encoded amino acid sequence. DNA encoding the polypeptide, may be introduced into plant cells and expressed, conferring pathogen resistance on plants comprising such cells and descendants thereof.

  • Patent number: 6140085
Abstract: FCA genes of Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica napus are provided, enabling flowering characteristics, particularly timing of flowering, to be influenced in transgenic plants. Timing of flowering may be delayed or hastened using sense and antisense expression, also various mutants and alleles, including alternatively spliced forms.

  • Patent number: 6132752
Abstract: This invention relates to modified electrodes their manufacture and use, to electro-release systems including such electrodes for electro-release of compounds, for example medical or veterinary pharmaceutical compounds, and to methods for electro-release. By electro-release is meant that the electrochemical release of the compound, or the inhibition of such release, is caused by the application of an appropriate voltage bias to an electrode. Such a system allows accurate control of timing and/or amount of release.
