    Abstract: An applicator system for extrusive dispensing of work material from a flexible pre-charged portion of a cartridge unit is provided. The system comprises a body portion having an actuator and a housing coupled thereto. The housing includes a cartridge bay and an arresting member displaceably coupled thereto. The cartridge bay is configured to receive the cartridge unit and defines at least one containment compartment for receiving the pre-charged cartridge. The arresting member is displaceable between open and closed configurations for releasably retaining the cartridge unit. The actuator, coupled to the housing in communication with the cartridge bay, includes a drive member engaging the pre-charged cartridge within the containment compartment. The body includes a handle and an activation member coupled thereto.

    Abstract: A dispensing apparatus includes two cylindrical sleeves, two shuttles slidingly disposed in the sleeves, push rods disposed in operable communication with the shuttles, and a piston, driven by pressurized gas, disposed in operable communication with the push rods. The cylindrical sleeves receive film pack bags having a common face plate that has an integrally formed discharge nosepiece having an internal partition that maintains separate flow streams from the film pack bags. A holder is disposed proximate a front end of the sleeves and configured to restrain the face plate during dispensing. A mixer is disposed in fluid communication with the film pack bags. A material applicator is disposed in fluid communication with the mixer. A first flexible tube is disposed upstream of and in fluid communication with the mixer. A second flexible tube is disposed in fluid communication with the material applicator for supplying atomization air to the material applicator.

    Abstract: A film pack cartridge includes an integrally molded synthetic resin face plate having a discharge opening therein and a nosepiece on one face extending about the opening, and a flexible synthetic resin bag has one end sealingly adhered to the other face of the face plate and about the discharge opening and with the other end of the bag being sealed. Two bags may be disposed side-by-side or one bag may be of annular configuration with a bag of circular configuration disposed therewithin. The cartridges are produced by mounting generally tubular synthetic resin bags on mandrels which are inserted into a mold providing a cavity about an end of said mandrels and bags configured to provide a face plate and nosepiece. Molten synthetic resin is injected into the cavity to form a face plate with the ends of the bags sealingly adhered thereto. The face plate has a discharge opening therein and a nosepiece about said opening aligned with the end of said bag.

    Abstract: A multi-cartridge powered dispenser includes a frame having base and top cartridge supports, wheels and a handle. A piston/cylinder is mounted on the frame and at least three cartridges are clamped between the support plates. Each cartridge has a shuttle at the lower end and a discharge opening at the upper end. The piston/cylinder assembly has push rods extending through the base support to move the shuttles in the cartridges. A pressurized fluid supply conduit is connected to the piston/cylinder, and a valve in the fluid supply conduit controls the flow. Discharge cannulae communicate with the outlets the cartridges. Discharge conduits extend between the cannulae and a handpiece for applying the contents of the cartridges to a work surface. The application handpiece can be a sprayer, a roller applicator, or a pour/extrude applicator.

    Abstract: A dispenser includes a container providing a cavity and a discharge opening at one end. A piston in the cavity has a peripheral wall portion sealing against the inner wall of the container and a centrally disposed passage therethrough. A sealing plug of resiliently deformable material is seated in the passage and has a peripheral flange about the front end adjacent the discharge opening. The flange bears upon the surface of the front wall of the piston about the passage to effect a seal therebetween. A filler push rod bears upon the surface of the sealing plug is movable to move the flange of the plug away from the surface of the piston to allow air to vent through the passage about the periphery of the plug.

The static mixer has an elongated mixing tube containing a mixing element, and a liquid dispensing nozzle is formed at the downstream end of the mixing tube. A one-piece manifold has an inner wall which includes a mixer support section sealingly mounted around the static mixer, an air inlet section for receiving an air supply through a conduit, and an air dispensing section which, together with the outer wall of the liquid dispensing nozzle, forms an air dispensing nozzle. The reactive liquid mixture is atomized by air that supplied through the air dispensing nozzle.

    Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a system for dispensing semi-liquid materials in predetermined ratios, which system includes two cartridges having the same or selected different diameters, but proportional to the ratio of the materials to be dispensed, the cartridges being rigidly snapped together by interfitting male and female elements. In another aspect of the invention, there is provided a seal for a cartridge for dispensing semi-liquid material which seal includes a resilient wiping lip formed around the outer periphery of the seal which is forced against the inner surface of a cartridge by the flattening of the convex face of the seal. In a further aspect of the invention, there is provided a cartridge for dispensing semi-liquid material which cartridge includes grooves formed in the inner wall thereof extending inwardly a distance from the edge of the filling end thereof so that air may readily be expelled from the cartridge as the seal is inserted after filling of the cartridge.
