    Abstract: A machine having a ballast take-up device (5) for taking up ballast located underneath a track has an endless clearing chain (8) guided in a chain channel (14). In a connecting joint (18) from a transverse channel (15) to a transport channel (17), a ballast deflector blade (20) pivotable about a pivot axis (19) is fastened. Arranged on said ballast deflector blade (20) is a ballast conveyor (24), designed for ballast transport in the direction towards a pivot axis (19) by means of a conveyor drive (23). With this, it is possible to expand the operating range of the ballast take-up device, as needed.
