Abstract: A handling element for a container such as a cylindrical drum to permit manipulation of the container by conventional handling equipment. The handling element is secured within a groove or ridge formed in the container and is situated at a position to allow the handling equipment to contact the ring and lift and otherwise manipulate the container. The element includes a lower support surface and an upper lateral surface to operatively cooperate with conventional equipment for manipulation.
