Patent number: 5107720Abstract: An actuator for operating a remotely positioned, for example, spring-biased latch mechanism, or mechanical actuator, by a sheathed control cable. The actuating mechanism includes a plastic housing having a pivotally mounted, hand-operated member provided with two spaced zones for receiving at least one end of a flexible control cable. The housing is also provided with a pair of elements which secure the control cable sheath adjacent each of the pair of spaced zones for receiving one end of a flexible control cable. The two positions, or spaced zones, for receiving the flexible control cable are spaced at different distances from a pivot pin for the lever actuator.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1991Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Plastic Industries, Inc.Inventor: Hugh S. Patent number: 5010780Abstract: Structures for actuating a remotely positioned, spring-biased latch mechanism or mechanical actuator consisting of a sheathed control cable having one end connected to a latch mechanism, a plastic housing, having fitted therein a plastic shuttle. The shuttle is attached to one end of the flexible cable, and the housing is attached to the cable sheath. A push button has a stem which passes through the shuttle, and the stem and the shuttle have cooperating, inclined walls such that when the button is depressed, the shuttle is cammed laterally to actuate the latch.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1990Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignee: Plastic Industries, Inc.Inventor: Hugh S. Patent number: 4549711Abstract: A system for attaching non-cylindrical legs to upholstered seating-type furniture is disclosed wherein the frame of the furniture may have 90.degree. corners or corners at other than 90.degree. and the system includes means whereby the non-cylindrical legs may be simply aligned by the ultimate consumer.Through the use of the system of the invention as much as a 30 percent saving in space is possible in shipping furniture from the factory to a retailer or a retailer to the ultimate customer.Another aspect is that chairs and sofas may be manufactured having base platforms which are parallel to the ground and when the legs are attached to the frame the preferred 3.5.degree. rearward slope is acquired by the furniture.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1983Date of Patent: October 29, 1985Assignee: Plastics Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert Giltnane

Patent number: 4542912Abstract: A fifth wheel bearing attachment for mounting on a tractor and avoiding the necessity of providing oil or grease to lubricate the attachment. The improvement to the attachment comprises an antifriction polyolefin plastic sheet covering to fit over a circular fifth wheel metal bearing plate and over two sloped flanges of the fifth wheel attachment. The plastic sheet is attached to the bearing plate and the flanges. Two protective riser bars located on the outside of the two sloped flanges act as protection for the sheet when the tractor is coupled to the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1983Date of Patent: September 24, 1985Assignee: Cham-Co Plastic Industries Inc.Inventor: Andre St. Louis

Patent number: 4239062Abstract: A pipe thread connector of resilient deformable material has a sleeve or tubular shape with radial ribs projecting from the sleeve. The protector is driven upon the threads of the pipe and the geometric configuration of the sleeve changes because the sleeve is bent between the ribs. This bending keeps the ribs in tight resilient contact with the threads.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: December 16, 1980Assignee: Texas Plastics Industries, Inc.Inventor: Jerry D. Patent number: 4003520Abstract: A lawn sprinkler which may be easily disassembled for replacement of the sprinkler assembly or parts thereof to accommodate changes in surrounding soil or grass level. The lawn sprinkler includes a sprinkler body having its upper end opened and an inlet at its bottom end for receiving water into the sprinkler body from an underground supply of water under pressure. A suitable closure member is removably connected to the upper end of the sprinkler body and includes a central passageway. A sprinkler assembly is mounted for movement relative to the sprinkler body between a retracted position and an extended position and includes a longitudinally extending pipe for the passage of water under pressure therethrough. The sprinkler assembly may be easily removed from the sprinkler body for replacement of parts by simply removing the closure member from the upper end of the sprinkler body.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1975Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Plastic Industries, Inc.Inventor: Gordon Keith Bailey
