Abstract: A hollow plastic container having a closed lower supporting base, a sidewall extending upwardly from the closed base, and an upper portion having a dispensing opening therein extending upwardly from the sidewall. The container also includes a digitally printed base coat on the sidewall having a thickness of from 1 to 200 microns, and preferably includes printed areas over at least portions of the base coat to provide a distinctive appearance.
Abstract: A plastic container is disclosed that includes a sidewall portion and a base portion. In embodiments, the base portion includes a flexible base portion configured for a first position, a second position, and a third position in response to internal forces associated with filling and cooling of container contents. The first position is a position following formation or molding, and prior to filling; the second position is a position during or following filling of contents at an elevated temperature, but before cooling or significant cooling of the contents, the second position is vertically lower than the first position; and the third position is a position after cooling of contents and vacuum forces associated with the contents have been substantially addressed, the third position is vertically higher than the first position.
Abstract: A seal closure for a container includes a closure body and a plug liner. In embodiments, the closure body includes an upper wall, an outer annular wall, a radially outer support portion, and a radially inner support portion. The outer annular wall includes formations configured to engage a neck portion of a container. The plug liner may be configured to extend radially across the radially inner support portion. A hollow space can be formed by and provided between the plug liner, the radially inner support portion, and the upper wall. Embodiments of the closure may also include a plug seal. A method for designing or configuring a closure to accommodate or displace a headspace associated with a container is also disclosed.
Abstract: A system for manufacturing a filled plastic container includes an actuator, a base unit including a heating surface, and a dispensing device or nozzle. The actuator includes a body portion and a holding/securing member configured to hold or secure a portion of said container. In embodiments, the actuator is configured to apply a force or pressure on said container to contact the base unit, the base unit is configured to receive a base portion of said container, the heating surface is configured to convey energy or heat to a portion of the base portion of said container, and the dispensing device or nozzle is configured to introduce an inert gas into said container. Methods for providing a filled plastic container and providing a thin-walled plastic container are also disclosed.
Abstract: A plastic container includes a medium applied to a portion of the container. A digital image is applied to a portion of the medium, the digital image being comprised of a plurality of ink droplets. Methods for digital printing on a portion of a medium that is applied to a container are also disclosed.
Abstract: The plastic container includes a hollow body of plastic material having a lower supporting base, a sidewall extending upwardly from the lower base and an upper neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall with an opening therein. The sidewall includes at least one panel having a central region and an outer boundary, with the outer boundary being depressed with respect to the central region.
