Abstract: A method for forming a tampon applicator having a dome shaped forward end is disclosed, in which the requisite ejection force for discharging the pledget from the applicator is reduced by radially bending the petals forming the domed tip about their base prior to final fabrication of the dome-shaped petal tip. Several orders of the sequential steps for bending the petals are disclosed. The resultant tampon applicator has weakened fibers at the base of its petals to provide a desired significant reduction of the pledget ejection force.

Abstract: A method for forming a tampon applicator having a dome shape forward end, in which the stability of the petal tips to maintain their closure, is enhanced. During the manufacture of the tampon barrel, the petals which collectively form the dome shape tip are sprayed with a predetermined amount of moisture prior to their being presented to the heated tip forming die. It has been observed that the addition of moisture prior to petal tip formation counteracts the tendency of the petal tips to thereafter move towards their opened condition.

Abstract: A baby bottle feeding assembly is disclosed which includes a hood type enclosure for the nipple, when the bottle is not in use. During periods of bottle use, the hood is stored over the opposite end of the bottle. In order to positively retain the hood in either its nipple protecting or storage condition, the hood includes raised beads, which cooperatively engage complementary protrusions at either end of the bottle so as to provide a positive locking engagement. This engagement may be manually defeatable when it is desired to move the hood to its other desired position on the bottle. When the hood is locked in the storage condition, it is substantially co-extensive with the bottom region of the bottle, so as not to significantly extend beyond the bottle proper.

Abstract: A tampon applicator assembly is disclosed wherein the protective wrap which initially packages the tampon applicator provides a simplified covering for disposal of the spent applicator. The tampon applicator wrap is opened at a pre-determined location such that a discrete portion remains which is significantly longer than the applicator barrel member. Accordingly, after tampon ejection, with the plunger telescopingly located within the barrel, that unit is then inserted within the discrete wrap portion, which includes a substantial length extending beyond the reinserted applicator. That substantial length is then twisted and tucked into the opened end of the applicator to maintain closure of the wrap for applicator disposal.

Abstract: A two piece compactly packaged application for a tampon which includes a discrete first member and a discrete second member, the first and the second members being of comparable length. The first and the second members are initially packaged in a side by side manner. The applicator also includes a plurality of spaced apart tabs on either the first member or the second member for retaining one of the first and the second members in the other of the first and the second members when the members are assembled together in their operative position. The method assembly of the applicator includes grasping one of the first and the second members, manually aligning the first and the second members and axially moving the first and the second members together so that the first and the second members slide relative to each other and are maintained telescopically in operative position.

Abstract: There is provided a wrap for a tampon applicator having a first member and a second member. The wrap includes a hollow body for containing the tampon applicator therein, and a score line located at a predetermined position on the body to separate the body into two discrete portions in the vicinity of the junction of the first and the second members of the tampon applicator.
