  • Patent number: 7383099
Abstract: A vending machine for lottery tickets includes an exterior housing for access by a purchasing customer and a secure interior within which is mounted a plurality of dispensing containers to dispense the one or more tickets as selected by the purchasing customer. A plurality of separate holders for printed ticket information are arranged in an array, each with a purchase switch and an information switch actuable by the customer. Graphic information is provided on a video display screen controlled by a control unit within the housing arranged to control the dispensing of the selected tickets and to display on the video display screen graphic information relating to a ticket in response to information switches actuated by the customer. The graphics on the screen can be actuated in response to a motion sensor detecting the presence of a customer. The screen serves also as a display screen for the authorized operator and thus can be moved to be viewed from outside or inside a door.

  • Patent number: 7377512
Abstract: A lottery ticket is printed onto a conventional paper, card or similar substrate to provide game information printed on the substrate and game data printed on the substrate where some or all of the game data is covered by a removable covering which can be removed by the player generally by scratching a latex covering layer to expose the covered data for playing the game. In addition, a battery is printed on the substrate together with printed conductive paths, a powered element such lights or sound or a changeable ink formed on the substrate and a switch responsive to an action on the substrate by the player, generally scratching of the covering layer for conducting power from the battery to the powered element.

  • Patent number: 7070054
Abstract: A packaging material is provided in a continuous roll for forming into a channel shaped receptacle for receiving and supporting a structure such as a food product to be packaged by an over-wrap material. The packaging material is formed from two substrate sheets connected together along side edges to form a coextensive laminate defining a center portion and two side strip portions where the center portion has a width arranged to form the bottom wall and the two side strip portions each have a width arranged to form a respective one of the upstanding side walls. The center portions can be separated and exposed by tearing away the side and end portions and the inside surface of the center portions carries printed indicia providing a remanent value therefor, such as a scratch-off type lottery game or a collectible card.

  • Patent number: 6714838
Abstract: The input of information into the control unit of a lottery ticket dispensing machine, for filling of dispensing containers of the machine with different game tickets, defining a game number for a game provided on the tickets, a price of the ticket, a total number of the tickets making up the quantity of tickets and a length of the tickets from a leading edge of each ticket to a trailing edge thereof is simplified so as to avoid requiring the service person to enter the information on a key pad as numerical values. This is effected by providing the information in machine readable form on the tickets themselves or on a game set up card associated with the tickets so that the information can be scanned into the control unit by a reader. Alternatively, the information can be provided in a simplified coded form for simple input by the service person into a key pad of the control unit.

  • Patent number: 6494975
Abstract: A lottery product comprises a row of pouches formed by an upper and lower layer of heat sealable plastics material which is sealed along both edges and at spaced transverse heat sealed lines to define a series of separate pouches each containing a lottery ticket. The pouches are perforated in the transverse heat sealed lines to allow separation by tearing. The tickets are numbered consecutively in the row. The pouches are folded at each perforation line so as to form a fan folded structure with each ticket lying on top of the next adjacent ticket. A tear notch is provided at the top of each pouch between the heat seal and the top of the ticket to allow transverse tearing to remove the ticket from the pouch. The row of tickets is supplied in a dispensing machine and the strength of the perforations and the tear notch is arranged so that the row can remain intact while it is dispensed and can be easily manually separated without effecting tearing at the notch.

  • Patent number: 6234477
Abstract: Described herein is a lottery ticket composed of two ticket portions, each having a rear surface and a front surface. The front surfaces include promotional graphics and lottery information whereas the rear surfaces include lottery indicia, some of which are covered with a scratch-off layer. The lottery ticket is formed by connecting the rear surfaces together such that the lottery indicia are facing one another and are not visible without separating the lottery ticket into its two portions. The ticket assembly thus forms in effect a pouch enveloping the lottery indicia but without the wastefulness of a separate pouch material.

  • Patent number: 5217258
Abstract: A break open game ticket comprises a first and second substrate laid back to back. Each substrate includes an upper half which includes information concerning winning combinations of symbols and a lower half which includes three break open panels. One substrate is inverted relative to the other substrate so that the panels of one are aligned with and overlie the information section of the other thus keeping the panels entirely separate. The panels on one side can therefore be opened to expose the combinations printed on the backside of the information area of the other substrate. The games are thus independant and provide a novelty effect improving the pleasure of the game player.

  • Patent number: 5193815
Abstract: A bingo card for playing at an instant bingo game comprises a first area in which bingo numbers are printed and covered by an opaque layer which can be scratched away to individually reveal each bingo number in turn. The card further includes four separate bingo playing areas each of which is in the form of a bingo card with the numbers printed thereon in conventional manner. On top of each of the second playing areas is applied a translucent coat of a scratchable material which is pigmented so as to modify the appearance of the underlying color of the area. The playing area can therefore be marked in relation to those numbers appearing on the first area simply by scratching away the translucent layer to provide a visual distinction. The game card is simple and effective and requires printing of the playing numbers only once as they can be viewed through the translucent layer.
