    Abstract: A method of and device for separating a liquid-containing mixture into two phases including a flexible liquid permeable belt moved through a helicoidal path. The mixture to be separated is deposited on the belt and, as the belt moves through the helicoidal path, the liquid passes through the belt while solid material is retained thereon. At the end of the helicoidal path, the solid material is removed from the belt. The belt may be used alone, or together with another overlying belt, or the belt may be a tube slit along its length.
