Publication number: 20130147179Abstract: An integrated security structure is provided employing an external source of energy to change the appearance of the structure rendering the structure more challenging to duplicate due to its complexity. The security structure includes a substrate forming part of a bank note, identification document, or other security device; an active device within the substrate changing color between at least two colors wherein a color of the substrate surrounding the active device matches one of the at least two colors to form a metameric device. At least one Interference Security Image Structure (ISIS) is configured to be metameric with a bleached state of the active device and is therefore invisible at normal incidence. Another ISIS is metameric with the colored state of the electrochromic device and consequently becomes invisible during coloration. When the whole device is tilted, both ISIS's change color while the rest of the device essentially remains the same.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2011Publication date: June 13, 2013Applicant: POLYVALOR, LIMITED PARTNERSHIPInventors: Bill Baloukas, Ludvik Martinu

Publication number: 20130119135Abstract: There is described herein an active bidirectional tag for use in an RF signaling system for real-time and non-real time localization. The tag has a first antenna that operates at a first frequency and a second antenna that operates at a second frequency. The two antennas allow the tag to perform more than one function concurrently, and to provide different ranges of communication between the two antennas. The tag is low cost, low power, and multi-use.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2011Publication date: May 16, 2013Applicant: POLYVALOR, LIMITED PARTNERSHIPInventors: Jules Gauthier, Anthony Ghiotto, Ke Wu

Patent number: 8409258Abstract: An intravertebral device for modulating vertebral growth without changing spinal mobility or compressing the intervertebral disc. By implanting the device around the vertebral growth plate, on the convex side of the curvature, a compression is induced on one side of the growth plate during the vertebral growth. This local growth modulation decreases significantly the vertebral wedging and corrects the global deformity of the spine. The device provides a minimally invasive and fusionless way of correcting spinal curvatures while preserving the intervertebral disc.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2008Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignees: Polyvalor, Limited Partnership, Valorisation HSJ, Limited PartnershipInventors: Carl-Éric Aubin, John F. Publication number: 20120217670Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a mold assembly (32, 34) and a method of using the mold for the manufacture of composite parts which, more particularly, are generated from a strengthener in a generally solid phase and a matrix in a generally liquid phase. Various types of molds and processes may be used in order to impregnate a strengthener with a matrix such that a composite part may be manufactured, but the efficiency rate and the duration of the manufacturing process significantly varies depending on the chosen type of mold and process. The present invention relates to a mold assembly and to the manufacture of composites by using the mold assembly which includes the injection of the matrix in the mold assembly containing the strengthener and a deformable member (36) which favors the impregnation of the matrix toward the strengthener.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2012Publication date: August 30, 2012Applicant: POLYVALOR, LIMITED PARTNERSHIPInventors: Eduardo Ruiz, François Trochu

Patent number: 8106348Abstract: The present invention is based on the principle of depth of penetration of electromagnetic rays. In the case of semiconductor mono-crystalline materials, such as silicon, the depth of penetration of a light ray is proportional to its wavelength. Using this phenomenon, the present invention consists of a pixel having three electrodes that can discriminate between the colors red, green, and blue, and thereby reconstruct a color image.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2007Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Polyvalor, Limited PartnershipInventor: Yves Audet

Patent number: 7962194Abstract: A magnetic resonance imager (MRI) controllably propels at least one magnetic field responsive body within a subject. The MRI comprises a bore magnet producing an intense magnetic field sufficient to magnetically saturate the magnetic field responsive body. A magnetic field gradient generator is configured to apply variable magnetic gradients to at least a portion of the subject containing the magnetically-saturated body. A controller instructs the magnetic field gradient generator to acquire image data of the magnetically-saturated body within the subject and to apply a calculated magnetic gradient that will propel the magnetically-saturated body towards a target location in the subject. A tracking unit of the MRI provides position feedback information of the magnetically-saturated body within the subject.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2011Assignees: Polyvalor, Limited Partnership, Val-Chum, Limited PartnershipInventors: Sylvain Martel, Jean-Baptiste Mathieu, L'Hocine Yahia, Gilles Soulez, Gilles Beaudoin
